This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default Weird popup won't let me start game?
I have Ultimate Collection. Have regularly been installing CC and mods, never caused problems before this. I exited the game, but when I went to open it again this popup came up (attached). I went into the files and started the game with the Application in SP9, same thing. Origin, same thing. I took out all cc and mods, same thing. Between exiting the game and starting again, all I had done was pull a piece of cc out and immediately put it back (im very indecisive ) but surely that couldn't have caused the problem? I had been playing a family that had more than 8 sims in the house, but I had the appropriate mods for that. I'm at a loss and any help would be much appreciated

You need to delete the groups.cache file in My Docs/EA Games/The Sims 2.

Clear your cache files. Restart your pc and go into Origin - and repair your game. Start your game while you are still in Origin.

This problem is commonly caused by a corrupted cache file. TS2 will keep regenerating this corrupted cache file every time the game is launched, causing the user to have to delete the cache file every time they start the game. The best way to permanently solve this problem would be to open the file "Groups.cache" found in your Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2 folder with notepad, delete everything inside, then save the file. Afterward set the file attributes to "read only".

The game will no longer generate a corrupted cache file, and will launch as normal.

Deleting your cache files is something most of us with cc have to do on a regular bases. About every third or forth start up, or some people do it every time. Also if you have used Body Shop there will be another couple of loose files to delete with them. Or you can make them read only as HarVee suggested. I just delete them all.

You don't need to use Origin's repair option after deleting your cache - deleting cache files is perfectly safe and cannot damage your install. It won't do any harm if you do use the repair option, you'll just be spending time on fixing a problem that's already fixed.

Sorry to hijack a thread but hypothetical question: if, say, an installation file like objects.package got damaged, could Repair fix your game without you having to fully uninstall and reinstall?

oh my gosh thank all yall so much!! okay so i deleted my groups.cache file and restarted my computer (not intentionally, but still) and when I ran the game it wouldnt get past the first entry thing where the logo comes up, so after 4 minutes i exited and started again, but this time my game wouldnt load past the long entry animation. I didn't notice HarVee's post until after this had all happened, did I do it wrong? I have no groups.chache anymore so I feel incredibly dumb

@AmandieLove yup, it should do.

Yeah rachelkcrow, things do get a bit slow immediately after deleting caches. 'Tis the nature of caches.

The more cc you add the longer that loading screen will hang. Going off to clean is what I always do. That's the trade off for having all that content.
