Okay well I decided I had to choose a hood in order to start making progress. I chose Dracul Isle. I reckon it's the best medieval hood so far, here's some shots

So this is my first real portion of medieval play while I wait for Elbenawke. Its working quite smoothly, and the olden vibe is very soothing to just watch the neighbourhood go about its business.
However when I use the No Cars mod, npc's still travel around by taxi, like the police, firefighter and the paperboy (on your wages?) so somethings not quite right. And I had one sim 'go here' and she also hailed a taxi.
Early days yet though, no pun intended.

Yes, existing streets are a problem, even if you disable the carpools.
I'm working on my own world called "Simrim". I'm very curious, if it will work. No roads, that's a challenge because the houses or villages must be placed closer to each other.

Another problem are terrain paints. I wanted something different. Something more "Skyrim". There's no way: I had to render all textures with my Filter Forge Filters. Another idea was, to extract the Skyrim Textures.

An issue is the routing of horses, because my sims will use them to travel from A to B. Lots have to be larger, but this is quite contrary to a real medieval town.
I have no idea, where this journey will end.

There must be a way to disable or reduce the taxis. Twallan's mod maybe? I put 'No Cars Mod" in my game and forgot to take it out when playing a modern world. I had no taxis or cars at all. All my sims walked everywhere.

I see nobody post on this thread for 10 months Also if some of the problems to run a fully functional medieval world seem not to have been resolved, I am playing a very small tropical island with no roads. To make it to work I had 2 problems to solve: having sims in the active household going to work on foot (solved with Buzzler Carpool Disabler) and having npcs that usually drive a car to show up, I am asking if anybody know of a mod that force npc to show up on foot or even just spawn on the lot.

Ok, I have been doing some medieval stuff in my game. I've obtained many, many outfits, and a good clutch of CC.
Most importantly, I have also changed the ATS3 medieval cash registers to have the function of ani's store set register. This means I can now set up medieval candle shops and pottery shops, and with no modern items anywhere at all. I can upload these somewhere if there is relevant permissions for that.
I'm also looking for ideas for what ani stores you can use in an ancient town. A weapons store would be unrealistic, I think. But bric-a-brac is a good one.
I've also made a mod which stops sims flushing the loo and autonomously washing their hands if anyone thinks it would be useful.
Also a big Yay to Praaven. Wow, It is surely one of the best neighbourhoods created for any TS game. I will upload some shots shortly in the pics thread. I have created King Arthur, a wizard Merlin and plan to add a Robin Hood type character.
Anyone else done anything?

What if you just add sidewalks, maybe the sims would have to walk to work or school.

It's a pity the Canning Station doesn't look a bit more historical. It has hobs and buttons on it, and a more rustic version would totally enhance our building choices.

Hi! I'm new in this thread, but have always been merging my sims 3 into medieval times
So I am not sure if this has been mentioned, but if you use custom content for the simmers' clothing I always use Nraas Dresser Invalid package to disable ALL of EA clothing in all ages and categories. (Takes quite some time)
But then all newborns and NPC's will be dressed in the custom medieval clothing that you download. Thought I would share my tip

Do you have a simblr? If so, I would love to connect :-) http://sims3medieval.tumblr.com/

Does anyone know how to stop costume parties from happening? I noticed the Queen in my hood was throwing a party, so I moved the camera to have a look, only to find them dressed up in burglar outfits and stuff
I don't want to 'NRaas blacklist' the clothing, just to stop autonomous costume parties!

@tizerist...I use NRaas Tempest to disallow non-actives holiday parties. I no longer let them have any as a rule (set this option to false). I'm going in game now to see if Tempest will allow for disabling only the costume parties but allow for feast and gift parties.

Hmmm, it doesn't look like there are separate options per holiday (to allow/disable). What I would do is set the option to false until the start of the next season, then change it to true to allow for a party.

Oh wait, did costume parties come with Generations or Seasons? I don't recall but my towns no longer have them since I added Tempest.

Just have to add: The word 'Medieval' always catches my eye! I'll have to go back and read what others have been doing in their games as I love to have a medieval style town saved for when I get the itch to play. I usually play Medieval games in a revised version of Richdre's Edenshire II.

They came with Seasons. So Tempest with default settings stopped it?

If you install Tempest, I believe the default allows non-actives to have those holiday parties. I changed that setting to false and no more holiday parties. I don't bother with the temperature and weather options in the mod, I was mostly interested in killing off the holiday parties, suppressing insects during the winter and cleaning up the autumn leaves during the winter (I think it's Tempest that does that).
