Default Best Large Entertainment Community Lots?
So I'm working on my neighborhood design and I need a few opinions.

In my current neighborhood, I have a large casino with a restaurant, pool, dance floor, beauty parlor (with clothing), and hotel rooms. It's a really nice lot, but I'm thinking about replacing it. I love the place, but I was hoping for something a bit more family friendly?

Any ideas about what would be a good lot to build/download to replace this one?

Hmmm. Not exactly. Maybe something with more kid friendly activities? You can see why I'm a bit stumped. I need something for the whole family especially as I'll have sims returning from University soon. That means baby sims everywhere!

I'm building a drive in movie theatre, but that'll be geared more toward my teen sims.

what about an amusement lot with bowling, video games, karaoke, skating rink, etc....you can use the food stands for BV to make the environment more fun and casual. maybe add a couple of don't wake the Llama tables.

We do have modest creators here.

Joandsarah77 has a fine lot to consider;

http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=574466

Do be aware, though ... the bumper car is an NPC, as Joandsarah warned. Try this on a test copy of your game first to see if you like it before putting it in your good copy. You can't just yoink it out if you don't like it.

If you want a shopping area, you could make one lot roughly matching the size of the amusement park and lot-adjust it so that it looks like two sections of one lot. I had to do this when I had two large fairgrounds because I had way too much stuff to put on one.

Thanks to ALL free-site creators, admins and mods.

I don't see any need to bulldoze it. Build the family-friendly places as well.

Places I like to take the kids are bowling alleys (kids are so cute bowling!), skating rinks (ice and roller), swimming pools, parks with playgrounds - if you have AL they have a full set of playground equipment, not just the swings - and/or sports equipment, maybe a bandstand. Make sure you include the instruments the kids can use - piano, mic stand, synthesizer, violin. Or just a picnic area and a lot of room to run around playing tag and cops-and-robbers. Kids with Seasons love to fish in the summer.

For rainy days you can have an indoor venue with lots of different family-friendly games - pinball, arcade games, darts, Don't Wake the Llama, Mahjong, myshuno, and chess. Or a children's museum with hands-on exhibits, like the kid-accessible hobby items somebody made.

One thing I do to make it worthwhile taking the kids shopping with the teens and adults is dedicate an area in the shopping center to the "Humane Society." If you don't like dealing with people buying pets in the background, you can omit the pet-buying items and just include the toy dog pen and bird cage. The kids will play with the puppies and the birds will spawn and can be played with. Kids love that! Womrats don't work as well and aquaria have to be stocked.

Ugly is in the heart of the beholder.

Well they said 'entertainment centre' and I didn't consider any of my lots to quite fit the bill. To me that entertainment centre was family friendly, it has a movie theatre.

If you want something that is aimed at the whole family and large I do have a water park. You will need a good computer to play it without lag though. Swapping out the plants for plastic plants would help that. http://www.modthesims.info/d/477943 I include things for toddlers.

My carnival that gazania linked also has things for toddlers. You of course need the mod to take toddlers. But if you just want things for kids those things are there. The bumper car is not included in the lot I just have the ride ready to go and a link to it. If you download and install the bumper car ride you must never delete the cart runner since it's a sim, an NPC.

@gazania Trust me, I know Joandsarah77 has really good lots and ideas. That's where I got my idea for Sedona's small clinic (I really need to put up a picture and give Joandsarah the credit).

Looking at these ideas, I think I can sort of combine them. The Botanical gardens in my hometown has something called My Big Backyard for kids, but it sort of caters to adults too! With these ideas, I could probably combine all of that together!

Kids can sing karaoke, the few families I have with karaoke machines the kids are always on them.

A generic beach lot would be good for families if you want something fast. There are lots of things programed in for kids to do at the beach and if you're bringing toddlers through mods, they like to eat sand.

@Peni Griffin That dog pen spawns puppies? I just saw my very first want for one by a child. I had no idea why he would want it with no pets around. Most of my community lots these days have a room or small area that is toddler and child friendly. This way couples or singles with kids can take them instead of leaving them home alone.

Got sidetracked by the dog pen mention (:

The most populated community lot for my sims is most often the cemetery. I have no idea why other than knowledge sims for see ghost wants. there are books, chess tables and darts on lot, along with restrooms and a stereo. Sims can also dig for treasure or hunt bugs. The other largest population of visitors is using Moo's Mews 1x1 nightclub. Visitors will cram into this lot for Smustle dancing, drinks and mostly mingling with their significant other, should they happen to wander in, which is quite possible. (:

The dog pen spawns one small dog. I tried it right when the EP was fresh out and the stupid thing attached itself to my sim like bracelet, perhaps it was patched I don't know, I've never used it again.

There's no room on the tiny lots anyway, but I could put it in the street if I wanted to try it. My sims have telescopes and other stuff in the street, with abductions, as long as it doesn't block the bus or carpools, they stay there. Hmm, maybe I should try the card table soon . . . [images of sims in their undies playing cards in the street] (:

I actually don't have Pets Expansion (No Regrets at ALL) but I do have the toy dog pen that came with AL. It works really well, but if you don't care for the dog, it'll get taken away. Also I didn't know what to do with the thing when my sims moved to a new house. I had to put the poor thing up for adoption. *sobs*
