Default MTS2 Mesh Tool Tutorial--New Objects
Mesh Tool New Object Tutorial -draft 1.

I`d like to Thank Simsuncensored for her help in writing this tutorial.

To use the Mesh tool you need to know how to use SimPE to extract files and to replace files, and also to export a object into a OBJ file using Delphy`s mesh extractor plug-in.

Step:
1: Using a 3d program, create your new 3d object and export it to a OBJ file.

2: Start up the Mesh tool and click on the "Object Wizard" button.

3: Click on the Browse button, then find the OBJ file you created in step 1. Now click on the next button.

4: This next window will tell you how many meshes the object is made up of and has a check box asking if you wish to view the object in the 3d viewer , leave this check box UNCHECKED for now. Just click the "next" button to continue.

5: This next window is there for future use, so again just press the "next" button again , and then enter the name you wish to save the file as.

6: Now start up SimPE, and use object workshop to clone a object which you want to use as the base package for the new object. Make sure that all three check boxes are checked.
http://www.modthesims2.com/attachme...achmentid=23333

7: find the gmdc file in the package which contains the meshes you wish to change, and then right click on it ,and select the replace option in the small menu.
http://www.modthesims2.com/attachme...achmentid=23334

8: In the dialogue window, find the newly created gmdc file (*.simpe , or *.5gn) and open it.

9: Now back in the plug-in window of Simpe, change the filename of the gmdc file to something unique (it should be "custom_object" after you have replaced the gmdc, change it from this to something else). Then click the commit button.

10: Now click the assign hash button and then the commit button again. (DO NOT CLICK THE FIX TGI BUTTON)
http://www.modthesims2.com/attachme...achmentid=23335

11: In the tool menu , select "Fix integrity".
http://www.modthesims2.com/attachme...achmentid=23336

12: Now click on the object data file, Then in the plug-in view click on the "Get GUID button". ( make sure the update MMAT box is checked ).
http://www.modthesims2.com/attachme...achmentid=23337

13: Fill in the details to register the object for a new GUID.
Note: If you do not have a guid account already, you will need to go too the SimPE web site and register, the link is at the begining of this tutorial.

14: Click on commit and then Save the package.
Note: If you have more then one object data file you will need to get a new guid# for each one, to keep your object from replacing the original object.

15: Go back to the plug-in view for the gmdc file and then to the "Items 3" tab, Copy down the names of the models.
http://www.modthesims2.com/attachme...achmentid=23338

16: Now click on the shape file in filetypes and click on it,then in the plugin view go to the /content/parts tab, Now change the details to match the name of the imported meshes (which you wrote down in the last step) so that they match with the names of the Matd files that you wish each mesh to use.

16a: So for each mesh in the object there should be a entry, and in each entry what SimPE calls the subset should be the name of a mesh, and the "Material Definition file" should be the name of a MATD file. Once you have changed the entries, remember to click commit and save the package.
