Default External editing of a Height Map (16 bit grayscale .png file)
I want to use an external program to make a 16 bit gray scale height map.

Windows Paint doesn't save it as 16 bits. this results in the landscape being repeated twice.

I couldn't convert it with GIMP or ImageMagic.

Anyone using an external program to edit height maps? How?

I use photoshop, but I know that there are plugins for a lot of less expensive or free tools. I think Paint is one (not the windows paint but Paint.net) where you can get a plugin for.
Here on MTS I found this thread where other options are discussed: http://modthesims.info/t/382629
Maybe this wikipedia article helps to find a solution: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porta...oftware_support

Epic! I was looking at those threads, and stumbled upon the idea of a plug in for gimp.

There isn't such a plug in, but the 2.9 version of GIMP (Beta) can do it. I got it working!

I use photoshop and just opened a default map, and put my new one on top.
