Default Problem with Sims2pack Clean Installer
I'm running Vista Home.

I have tried deleting registery keys stated and re-installing.

I have re-installed .net framework.

I can install it fine.

But when I attempt to run it I get this:

Then when uninstalling it.

My explorer.exe crashes and I have to restart it using task manager.

Anyone else having this problem?

I wasn't having this exact problem, but one stated by others, where I just couldn't get the Installer to run. I finally just uninstalled everything, turned OFF my Vista "User Control", re-installed .Net 1.1, and then re-installed the Installer. Finally, it's working! Thank goodness, because I thought I was going to lose my mind installing downloads one at time!
I probably didn't help you in the least, Monolithic, but I do hope you get your problem fixed.

Do you have the correct version of the dotnet framework installed? The CI needs version 1.1. If you already have this version, try uninstalling and reinstalling it.

No I have the latest...3.5 I believe....

I'll try 1.1 and see if that fixes the issue then edit my results.

That'll be your problem- the CI needs version 1.1- it will not work with just the other versions.

Ok...I installed 1.1 with the same issues...

I made a video of the problems with it...including the crashing of Windows Explorer upon uninstallation of the program.

it is located here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bb_q_PF38hI

This is after I have uninstalled dotnet and re-instaled...remove all traces of the program in registration and everythinng...

Okay, I couldn't read the error messages too clearly on that video. However, these are things you can check:
1) Make sure you are on an administrator account
2) Completely remove dotnet fx 1.1 and the Clean Installer.
3) Download both again.
Install dot net fx 1.1 and Service pack one for this.

4) Restart the PC.
5) Reinstall Clean Installer.

The error code is the same one I posted earlier.

I have tried everything...it still will not work....

I am on the admin account...thats why you see no UAC or too many security measures popping up....

And what about the crashing explorer.exe...thats shown on the video too...

A CLR error is most often caused by an error with the dotnet framework, so I'm guessing you still have some dodgy files there somewhere. This would in itself cause explorer to crash. Take a look at this:
http://kb.calyxsupport.com/kb/article.php?id=437
(for a totally different piece of software, but the error is the same).
It's not the CI causing this so much as the framework libraries it uses.
