I'm pretty sure that you can't do this, but I may be wrong.

i am just doing upstairs pools since I found out how. you need a dummy level. then, wall the dummy level and the level below in the shape of the pool, tile the walls, open the floor above the dummy level in the pool area, fill the dummy level floor with rgiles's transparent blue floor tile and add diving boards and ladders to the level above dummy with moveobjects.

It depends on how one masks it to make it look the way one wants it. No offense... I'm listing that as an alternative only. In fact, I'm gonna try your method, too. I think both are cool...

Fat D I'm somewhat confused by the method in your post. Could you clarify it more?

OK, I've prepared a picture guide, the first 2 pictures are for both, the next 2 are for with, then the next 6 are for without.
Remember to wallpaper and to have "moveobjects on" and boolprop constrainfloorelevation false activated. the pictures should speak for themselves.

EDIT: Crap, the order is scrambled.
I'll try to reorganize them soon.

Fat D,

so in your method, some essential points I've got so far.

1. there's no pool water except transparent tiles.
2. by means of compression of the second level to a 4 click high one to shorten the distance a sims has to travel to reach a lower level to swim. Simply because moveobects cheat enabled dive boards or ladders will normally draw sims to swim a level lower than where dive boards or ladders are located just like the beaches.

A big thank for your pictures! They've told me the most important things I need lately.

If you're interested to visit an another type of aerial/raised pool, too,

I find linking all these infos together, I'm getting much better picture for how to manipulate aerial pools by means of pool-tools... Tons of thanks to you all involved... Gonna experiment more now... Wow, there're already at least 3 types of aerial/rised pools...!

Right, I tested it and found out the uni fence version doesn't work for that reason.
