Default Mod idea: needs dictate autonomy
Boy do sims love watching TV and playing on the computer. Like.. they may have 'whims' and all.. but when it comes down to it.. all they want is screen time. They'll clock a good 15-20 hours of tv and computer a day if you let them. Visiting someone's house for the first time? A sim will walk directly upstairs to their bedroom and start trollin' teh forums. God forbid they raid the fridge or take a shower at a friend's house. That violates some sort of social pact and even a close friend will kick you right out of their house if you do it more than once. But desktop computers? They're for everyone. If this is EA's sly commentary on modern entertainment habits, har har,Â*but it still makes for a boring simulation.Â*

What I wish is that sims would sit for hours and watch television IF their Fun need is depleted. Or maybe they'd choose to play cards or swim or do something else that's fun. And if their socialization is low, then maybe then they'll go to a computer to chat with someone online till that need is full. Or they could chat with someone nearby.Â*

If a sim is hungry they'll cook a meal. But they don't eat over and over all day. So the functionality is there. How can a mod apply that same need-based autonomy trigger to fun and socialization?Â*

Thanks for reading.

Ah you mean like in Sims 1, where if a sim's social need was already filled, and his dearest friend walked over to talk to him, he'd get a bad mood reaction and the friendship score would reduce?
