And did you see the names' comment above? It certainly doesn't seem to me that everyone on the staff is from America. :p

Even so, you'd be surprised at the random world facts people find out every day. Isn't the art in these easter eggs simply how obscure they are to some people, while obvious to others?

Pink Floyd is an English Band. They staged the incident for their album cover and, as they say, the rest is history...
From Wikepedia...
At the time he lived near Clapham Common, and regularly drove past Battersea Power Station, which was by then approaching the end of its useful life. The building was chosen as the subject of the cover image, and the band commissioned German company Ballon Fabrik (who had previously constructed Zeppelin airships)[21] and Australian artist Jeffrey Shaw[22] to build a 30 feet (9.1 m) pig-shaped balloon (known as Algie). The balloon was inflated with helium and manoeuvred into position on 2 December, with a trained marksman ready to fire if it escaped. Unfortunately inclement weather delayed shooting, and the band's manager Steve O'Rourke had neglected to book the marksman for a second day. The balloon broke free of its moorings and ascended into the sky. It eventually landed in Kent, and was recovered by a local farmer, reportedly furious that it had "apparently scared his cows".[23] The balloon was recovered and shooting continued for a third day, but the image of the pig was later superimposed onto the cover photograph as the early photographs of the power station were considered to be better.[23][24]

My first experience with The Sims was on Play Station. In that game, the object of 'Get a Life' was to create a Sim that had to originally live at home with Mother. Then, through a series of promotions, etc. Moved out and in with various people, all at the bidding of Malcomb Landgrabb (including his daughter, Mimi if you were a girl or Dudley if you were a guy). At the end, Mother ends up marrying Malcomb. Which would mean that the Malcomb IV in TS2 is a decendant of that union. I have never played any of the other PC based Sims, but in the PS2 version, they did put the Newbies, the Goths and, I think, Michael Bachelor, in as their playable families once you completed the 'Get a Life' part.

And I always thought the Goths were more like the Adams Family, but I do see the resemblance of Vincent Price too.

Malcom Landgrabb may not be physically present in the sims2 but he definatly still is around not only does he have dorm rooms and a secret society named after him. But he owns some kind of land that my natural science career track sim has to dig in. Its funny how the sims2 team keeps old sims around and alive...

Has anyone noticed that there is a wallpaper set in Mansions & Gardens (or perhaps another expansion pack) that's called "Brick Rolled"?

Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down...

Absolutely beautiful. I want M&G now just for that.

I also noticed there's a bar called "The Grease Stands Alone." It's pretty close to a line from the Farmer in the Dell (also the previous slogan for the site in my signature), "the cheese stands alone."
Hi-ho the derry-o, the cheese stands alone~

I have a Sim who reached the top of the Gamer career track and she had a chance card. They're designing a new game, and in it a family has to be broken up, and one of the options was by Alien.

(I chose that and she got a nice 65,000 Simoleon bonus)

I chose the Alien option because that sounded just like the Goth family.

I got that chance card too. And I think I choose the other option, which was something like "let the players decide". It was a good option too. It went on to say how much the gaming community loved it and wouldn't stop going on about what happened to the mother from the family.

Another thing: In the Adventurer career track, there's a position "Multiregional Sim of Some Question."

Reminds me of Austin Powers--International Man of Mystery.

Though looking at SimWiki I found there's a position for International Sim of Mystery.

These easter eggs are so cool! I've never really noticed anything except for the Romeo and Juliet reference which is obvious though and has already been mentioned...

Bah! My poor sim! I wondered what he was doing... ;_;
He was hiding in the bathroom and had aspiration failure. I couldn't see him, but the "Learn from Professor Von Ball" worried me...

In CAS some of the female premade heads have a black braided hairstyle that is not in the catalogue. I first found it with Skintone 2.

Yay! 100th post!

Sango_Uchiha, there's an alarm going off outside in the next building and your avatar is even funnier.

I have to get a good look at all the book covers. The little kids' homework notebooks have gnomes and bunnies and stuff on them. Winnie Shepherd loves mystery novels and I'm pretty sure there's a deerstalker-wearing Sherlock Holmes on the cover but I can't get a close look.

In aparment life, the witchy wallpapers in misc. all the item descriptions are quotes from Shakespears Macbeth, spoken by the witches, "Fair is foul, foul is fair" etc etc. :D

Belladonna Cove is one huge Easter egg. "Cove" reminds me of "coven." "Cordial" means "pleasant" (another Easter egg right there--Cordial sisters and Pleasant sisters) but it's also a kind of potion if I remember right (think of Lucy's cordial from the Narnia series).

Haha great finds, all. Ok these are really obvious ones but I haven't seen em mentioned yet! And some might be totally off too, but hey, here it goes...
*opens up game*

The Money Tree? Come on people, "money doesn't grow on trees!" Can't tell ya how often I heard that.

This was half mentioned, but if you have the cooling tower, the alien ship will try to land on it, fail, give a shake, and fly off.

Not sure if these count, but the Grim Reaper Stuff:
You can call him when no one has died.
If you offer only a tiny amount of money, he just steals it.
He uses a cellphone! Hehe...

Obviously the evil witches were references to the Wicked Witch from the Wizard of Oz.

When your sims go on a tour through the bamboo forest, they can get jumped by a wild gang (of ninjas I think it was) as a chance card.

One of the street banners is a pirate flag.

When your sims woohoo with a servo, they get a custom memory.

The Murfhy bed can kill your sims when they pull it down sometimes.

A pair of candles are by Oompapa, which makes me think of Oompalupas.

Berge the Proliferating Reindeer is clearly a pun on Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer.

One of the beds is by a Feng Shui, an ancient Chinese system of asthetics.

Lady on Red is a play on the worlds Lady In Red.

The Jack O Lantern is cutely called Jack o Hattern.

The Vampire Coffin is made my Igor & Sons. I guess he had some children eh?

One Bed is called the Sleepwave 42. I think there are some other references to the Hitch Hiker's Guide's Answer to Life the Universe & Everything elsewhere too.

Bedscalibur=Excalibur.

*stops now* there are waaay too many things in the game to list. :P

IMHO, those don't really count as easter eggs... I mean, a lot of us know about this stuff...

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but some paintings that i think come with AL are actually pictures from MySims Kingdom.
