Do you keep a diary?
PANDAQUEEN's diary thread made me think of this. Do you keep a diary, and if so, what kind? I've kept a diary on Microsoft Word for some years now. I started it when I was 14 and while I took a break for a couple years I've been writing in it pretty consistently since I was about 16 or so. I have a separate writing journal on my computer where I have poetry, short fiction, and random snippets and writings. I like having a diary because it's a place for me to vent and share my personal thoughts without pressure of anyone seeing; same for my poetry.

Not a diary, more like a place I just wrote whatever randomness popped into my head. Which was pretty much always a poem. I actually went and dug it out the other day. Some of the stuff I wrote, my goodness.

I used to when I was younger, mostly writing down stuff that had happened or random thoughts, but not anymore.

I used to, but I stopped. I'd rather not have anyone go through it and figure out all my secrets. Trust me, I have a ton of things I'd rather not share with others.

I kept one throughout my last year of High school, then I stopped for a bit. Then I started a new one (a larger A4 book) in my first year of college, and I don't really write in it too much anymore, but I'm now in my second year of university and I've only got 2 pages left.

I have one diary that was from the 4th or 5th grade to the 6th and one that goes from the 8th grade to maybe two months ago. I was so carefree back then, where did the time go?
I don't write much anymore because I know I'll eventually read it all and remind myself of such embarassing moments. Live and learn, I guess.

I've had three. The first one was a journal for school in first grade that I turned into a diary and used all the way until I was maybe in the third grade.
The second one a teacher gave me it in fifth grade. I wrote in it until sometime in sixth grade. The design on it was ridiculously girly, but then again when asked if I wanted a girly one or a normal one I picked a girly one.
The third one is half a diary, half a drawing/whatever notebook. It's mostly a diary. I started using it in sixth grade and I still write in it now. There's an awesome drawing of Mordecai and Rigby (the characters, not myself lol) on the first page.

No, never had one. I've never had a reason to write one, because writing every day the same fucking shit about my uniteresting, boring and empty life would eventually become, ironically, boring. And rereading this after several years would be something of the same.

Yes, I have a refillable journal, and I use a J. Herbin Venetian glass pen and ink set to write in it. They were given to me for my birthday, and I'm completely addicted. I'm afraid that I may turn into an ink hoarder due to all the different types of dipping ink on the market. Anyway, I make little "tag" headings for each entry for quick access to topics I wish to revisit. I organize it in this manner mostly due to the fact that I have a lot precognitive dreams, and when the event occurs, I like to trace back to the date when the dream occurred. But in the mix, I also have tags for gaming, gardening, crafting, modding, etc.
Here is one expensive ink that I am too cheap to buy, but I still like to look at the photo:

I kept one for a few years while I was hiding in an attic from the Nazis, but since then...meh. Who has the time? The closest I get to a documented view of my life is by looking up old screen names on old forums and reading what I was up to years ago, or by reading old letters from when people actually sent mail with stamps.

I keep a journal I have been doing it for 7 years.I have filled up so many paper journals,I enjoy reading back on them.
I write down every life experience so when I am old I can read back and remember and show them to my future children.

I never had an diary, but right now i'm thinking about one.
Just because it could help depressed people like me to write their thoughts and feelings down.
So maybe i will buy one. It could help me with my new job either.

This. Nothing really happens in my life that's particularly interesting. In fact, I can sum it up as:
Morning: I go to work.
Evening: Came home.
Night time: Played video games.
Late night: Went to bed.
Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
Then every now and then, shit happens, like illness, disease, accidents, loved one dies.
But no, I don't keep a diary. I don't really need to, I have a pretty good memory and can recall my thoughts and feelings from all memorable events in my past. Perhaps, because there were so few! I wouldn't want to go back and read my diary even if I had one, because I hate reading stuff I wrote long ago for 2 reasons. 1. Sometimes I'll search for stuff on Google and find an old post I wrote a long, long time ago. Then I think, "man, I sound so much smarter and more mature back then than now, wtf happened?" so I feel bad and think I'm getting dumber as I get older instead of wiser. 2. It makes me realize how much easier life was when I was younger, then I feel sad about my present and wish I could turn back the clock.
My mom used to keep a very detailed diary. Probably still does. Long ago when I was about 10yrs old, guess my dad suspected something and found her diary and read about her love affair with my then Karate instructor. That promptly ended their marriage. Their divorce got a bit sticky, don't remember the details because I was a little kid, but that diary was also entered into evidence, probably to use against my mom's character. Anyway, if you have something you don't ever want anyone to read, better not put it in the diary.

My partner and I tried just after we moved back to my childhood home.
Neither of us stuck to it for long, really. Mine fell behind my PC and I didn't even notice, and found it after like 3 months. That prompted me to write again but I didn't stick to it...
Really, the Vent thread here is the closest thing to a diary I have. Most consistent too.
I have like a "stuff" diary, like a bunch of old birthday cards and silly notes from friends that trigger specific memories when I look through them. My partner doesn't understand why I keep them.
But I guess that's not really the same? Another thing is pictures I've drawn. I have loads of doodles and stuff that I look through and they usually don't have specific memories tied to them, but feelings, It's like time shifts and everything feels the way it did when I was younger, sometimes even the smell around me changes, or the temperature. It's kind of surreal but I have to be alone, or it doesn't happen.

I used to write down what happened in a Daytimer. When I started my divorce, my lawyer said it would be a good idea to write down everything that happened.
Well, my soon to be ex-wife got hold of it.

I have a diary, or more of a document, on my computer. There I write whenever I have loads of stuff on my mind. Sometimes I feel it's easier to deal with when it's "out there", and I can sometimes see what is worth caring about or not.
