Hey guys.
I'm building some apartments based off of apartments my uncle designed/built/lives in in Chicago, and have a few questions about some things, what will work and not work.

This is the base ground floor. On the left is the entry stairwell, with stairs that lead up to the "front door". At the top of these stairs is where id like to out the Apartment door, seen in next picture. Will this work? Or dose the apartment door have to be on an exterior wall? Id also like to have OFB style shops on the ground floor, the green area. I plan to remove the inner door, and instead put an outer door by the street, since it will be a business. Do Home business work on apartments? Or will it be decorative only? You can also see there is a "back door" at the bottom of the rear stairwell that is walled in, that's because the door is important to the look of the building, but obviously make the apartment unusable. Is this ok?

Here is the next floor, on the left side you can see that door at the top of the entry stairs, this is where Id like to put the apartment door.

The stairs lead up to a rooftop deck, each deck is properly half-wall enclosed in from each other, so I assume this will work properly?

And here is just a shot of the "rear" of the building, just so you guys can get a feel for it. Again, all those doors by the "garage doors" will just lead to an empty 3x1 room, decoration only.

The doors should work as you have them. Apartment doors do not need to be on a external wall. The back doors should be fine, since they don't actually lead to an apartment.

You'll need a mod to have apartments and businesses on the same lot.

The half-walls on the roof may cause a problem. I seem to remember that they won't work inside of an apartment.

Ok, thanks Mootilda. And that mod sounds awesome, I cant believe I forgot about it. Ill try to play test the lot and see how the roof/patio behaves with the half walls, and if they don't work right then I guess ill need to use a fence...Or just not give them a rooftop deck.

If the half-wall doesn't work, you might be able to use a normal wall which is decreased in size using CFE.

So how did these apartments work out, Night Racer?
They look killer.
Did the rooftop half-walls work?

I'm currently working on my own first apartment lot, so I have some questions for another thread as well - or should I put them here?
