Pfft. It's probably because in the modeling industry, at least for high-fashion, when you hit 25, you're considered "mature" and then you don't get the "good" gigs anymore. Then you're off to doing JC Penney catalogs and chain store ads and stuff like that.
The so-called "supermodels" can push it longer than that, some even into their 40s, But the "average" model? No. I did some modeling when I was much younger and needed school money, and I remember being classified as an "older girl" when I was 22. So yeah, female models ARE primarily "girls" and they are, indeed, generally called girls no matter how old they are. The same standard, of course, does not apply to men. Not saying it's right, but that's how it is in our youth-obsessed culture.
As for this site, I certainly wouldn't call any of them ugly. Some I would call "odd," maybe, or "unique," but not ugly. Mostly, they look like self-confident normal people which, indeed, would make the site a good reference for creating normal-people Sims.
