Default Making off the Shoulders top mesh and Transparency
Hi,

I am trying to make an off the shoulders type of top/dress, but I am not sure how to connect the sleeves to the arms when I'm using TSR Workshop. Do I still assign the bones in Milkshape like I would in CTU?

The mesh is something similar to this image:
http://audreymagazine.com/wp-conten...t:429,r:8,s:168

Also, I was wondering if it is possible to add transparency to the mesh by adding it to the texture.

I've seen images of clothing with transparency in them like these examples:

Is adding transparency to a mesh the same as Sims 2?

Edit:
I attached what the mesh should look like (in Milkshape) and what it looks like in Workshop.

Making clothing transparant is done with the textures by editing the alpha layer.
Making meshparts transparant is not possible yet with sims 3

Asigning bones is for all meshes the same.

So, if I want to add transparency to the sleeves I made in Milkshape, am I able to do that with the alpha layer? Or is that not possible?

if they are skintight then it is possible.
Making wide sleeves (that cover the original arm) transparant is not possible, atleast i dont know how.

I've been playing with transparency in CTU for the last couple of days.
It's fairly quick and painless, but the results vary. I used the two
tutorials linked to figure out how.

http://www.sims2wiki.info/Sims_3:Cr...ew_Base_Texture
http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?...lacing_Textures

You only need to edit the alpha channel.
basically, anything white is opaque, and black is entirely transparent
(which is how nude clothing is made over at sexysims2)

this works best for skin-tight clothing (usually), but can also work
with billowy sleeves since there's not a lot of contrast in the upper
arms of the skin texture. A see through dress might look okay
up top, but have a really weird bottom because of the way the
texture underneath gets projected to the mesh. In that case
you could use a darker shade of grey in the "top" part of the
alpha channel, and lighter down below.

I suspect birdy wants a extra layer sleeve covering the arm and make that transparant but i wouldn't know how.
I know how to make em alphaeditible, like putting holes in them or a see throug pattern, but not transparancy like glass.

Thank you so much for your help, BloomsBase and lenglel.

I am trying to recreate this dress:

I decided to make it two separates instead of one whole outfit. The transparency is from the sleeves and also on the skirt. I am worried about forgoing the transparency and resulting in the outfit not looking good on the skirt section due to the skirt having three layers of material.

I will try your suggestion BloomsBase with the see-through material to see if that works.

I think it has something to do with alpha meshes

No, it is related to the shaders.
Cmar discovered a method to change them, take a look here:
