Okay, I've found the problem!
First off, in your .Careers file, the first Metric1 line has this at the end: </</Metric1>
So take out the first </ and you'll be good to go.
And secondly, in the .Tones file, where you've got the tone for Racing Fans, it has this at the end: /ToneName>
It needs to be </ToneName>

That should solve your problems, so give it a try! If another script error is generated, send it over and I'll have a look for you Good luck!

Hello Creon,

I have a question about rabbitholes.

My career idea based on an evening school ,where the adult sim go to school to catch up it's degree like teenagers and children.
I saw in the Rabbithole list the school as an education career, but i want a pupil career as teenager or children.
What should i do?

And the second question is: can i have just 4 Job Levels as School Semester instead of 10 Levels ?

Hello everyone

I'm new to this site and just started making my first custom career! Whoop whoop! Everything was going smooth but hit a rough spot now on editing the career.tones because it has several skills need to gain throughout the career for promotions. Such as logic, writing, charisma, and gardening. How would I go on adding these in the tones? Any help be greatly appreciated!

For those having problems with showing up in the game, assuming you did everything right, try changing these lines in your [CAREERNAME].Careers
Quote:
<FullClassName>Sims3.Gameplay.Careers.Music, Sims3GameplaySystems</FullClassName>
<Guid>Music</Guid>

to:
Quote:
<FullClassName>NRaas.Gameplay.Careers.OmniCareer, NRaasCareer</FullClassName>
<Guid>PTDaySpaSpecialist</Guid>

(note: In the Guid I used one that's from the Spa because that's where my rabbit hole is. I think it ok to stay like that since in the tutorial it's "Music" and not all careers start there)

I changed this and now it shows up in the game!

@missyhissy, dunno if you still looking for this info but to make teens also capable of taking a job add this line:
<Ages>TYA</Ages>
in the [CAREERNAME].Careers. Put it before the first </CareerList>.
T for Teens, Y for Young Adults, A for Adults, E for Elder.

@kolulik, you can have just 4 levels instead of 10. Just delete all the lines for levels 5 to 10 and that's it.

I'm trying to create a custom career using this tutorial

But you'll note I said trying as I don't really feel its done until I can learn a few things that aren't included in the tutorial but must be possible as they are in the main game and at least most of these are available in a modded career I use for 1 sim.

I need to know how to:

*Add events/opportunities.
*Give a specific uniform. And is it possible to use a CC uniform as a work uniform?
*Give rewards like a computer or new vehicle for personal use, etc.
*Give a new skill/ability (similar to burglars sneaking in). And is it possible to create a 'assassinate' ability/skill?
*Branch a career into 2 different paths like the criminal career.

With S3PE open "Assassination" and "The Family" careers from Twallan and you'll pretty much find everything you want to know.
Using what you learned from the tutorial you can easily figure out what you need to copy and/or change in your career to have the things you want.
That's what I did to figure out how to add events to my career .

I'm trying to make custom opportunities for my career, but when I try to force the custom opportunity on a sim in mastercontroller, it doesn't show up.
Here's the weird thing, though: There's no script errors that show up, so I can't figure out what's wrong. If somebody could help me, that would be great.

Hi again! I just saw your answer today, I just gave up for a long time.. I did what you said, but it keeps crashing the first day on job after working for about an hour. This really makes no sense. The car does not show up either, maybe that has something to do with the problem? and when I hold the mouse over the work panel to see when the car will arive, it says "-01.00" when it is supposed to say "00.00". Thank you so much for helping, I am so gratefull.
New note: The game actually crashes as long as I have one custom career or more in the mods folder. I can't understand what the problem is. Could you please help?

I tried this tutorial and it didn't work in game (the numbers as joincareerNumbers and the descriptions that doesn't show like the problem was for many people). Then I tried the explanation of Thomas (although I had to read it really well cause it wasn't clear which STBL files I should delete and what to copy paste exactly) and I managed to do it all, but I still have the same problem.

My custom career is added to this post. Could someone look at it to help me?

Thanks!

I didn't really look to much in detail, but it looks like you have the tutorial text (The stuff like '''- Should be your career tile: e.g. CareerList:Tennis''') still on the UnhashedKeys files.
Try taking that text off, redo all the FNV64 hashes, then see if that works.

I did the Fnv64 without extra text. Should I still redo them then?

If you took off what I told you to take off, then try rehashing the first couple of lines. If it comes out to be the same, then tell me and I'll look into your strings in further detail (Like I said, I didn't really look at it too closely, as I was multitasking at the time).

Hi! So I've been working on a career for months now.I'm hoping people still check in here and I cannot for the life of me figure out what's wrong. :/ The game keeps telling me there's an error with the tones file and careers file. ThomasRiordan, I found your explanation on the strings files to be more helpful. Creon, this is a great tutorial. Could someone please look my career over or something and help me understand where my error is. I even tried comparing the two files. Please, please help, I want to put this career in the game.

Is there a scripterror file created in your User File directory (C:/Users/<Username>/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3)? If so, please upload it so I can take a look at it.

Sorry to make you dig up and upload another file, but would you mind uploading your career file as well? I don't quite know for sure what's wrong, but I'm sure I can figure it out if I take a look at it.

I wouldn't mind uploading at all. I figured I'd have to do that for you to further help me. I appreciate this.
This career is like a weird mix between police and Military that's why it's so odd. Lol

In the Freedom League.Careers file, you have this:
<FreedomLeague>
<Title>Captain</Title>
<BasePay>812</BasePay>
<PensionPay>812</PensionPay>
<WakeupTime>7</WakeupTime>
<StartTime>8</StartTime>
<DayLength>11</DayLength>
The problem with this is that the start of this line is <FreedomLeague> when all the other lines start and end with <Freedom League>. I know it seems really stupid that one mistake ruins the entire package, but that's the way it works.
Anyway, as for the second ScriptError file you uploaded, it seems that it has nothing to do with your career at all . It's actually a ScriptError for nraas woohooer, and though I didn't look into it much, it seems as though you have an outdated version of the mod.

Are you serious? Lol Wow, I didn't even notice that. XD It said there was a problem with my tones file too. I'll add an older copy of the tones and fix that error and see if it works. My career doesn't have a skill to work on at work so I wasn't really sure how to do the tones file. lol Thanks gamefreak!!! I'll let you know if it works.

Hey, so..

It's still giving me a script error. :/ I don't know why. It's just the careers file. I can't figure out why. I added the career package and the script error to this attachment.

Well, after staring at the file for about fifteen minutes, I realized the answer was right under my nose!
In the careers file, when you get to the part where you start listing the individual levels of the career, you start and end every section with <Freedom League>.
However, backing up a bit in the file, you listed the career name as "FreedomLeague."
I'm not entirely sure, but I think that space has to do with the error.

Cannot seem to crack it. I knew this would be complicated but I didn't realize I'd have this big an issue. I keep getting a script error and at this point I feel I might as well restart the whole careers file and hope for better luck. I don't wanna have to do that though. I've come some far. :/ I don't get it and the worst part is... I can't see the issue. What would you suggest? I appreciate the help by the way. I've had this package for a year and a half now so this means a lot to me.

Funny thing is, if I get it all worked out it'll be by the time Sims 4 is coming out. Lol

Let me know if you want anything else attached.

Thanks again!

Whoa......This is a lot more complicated of an error as I thought.
I found and fixed the problem with the careers file. It was a problem with the spacing in the names. Also, I redid the strings, as you seem to have gotten the strings confused. Just have a look at it and compare it to your old file and you'll see why.
However, there is a problem with hashing the strings file that I can't seem to figure out. The career won't show up, and it's not making ay script errors, and I know it's a problem with the FNV64 hashes on the strings. I've tried some different things, but I can't seem to get it working. Sorry.
I uploaded the file with all the changes that I made. I hope you can figure it out.
Edit: I also took out the tones file entirely, since it was causing problems and you said that you didn't have any custom tones anyway.

Oh. Hmm. I'll try my best to figure it out. Sorry you had such a tough time. I didn't realize it was so messed up. It's weird because I followed everything Creon said to a T. :/ I'll try and figure it out. Maybe I can like.... rehash the tags or something. I really wanna make this work so I can further my story. Thanks a bunch, I really appreciate it.
