Madrid Dirdam owns almost every business in my Hood. he is also friend with Charles Wade, because he greets him every morning, and has been tip-ing him a lot. too.
But for some reason, the "Hire" option never comes up for Charles. Madrid can be at home, or at the business he owns and need Charles at, no can do.
Strangely, when Madrid was looking at the employes pool...another paperboy came up...now he is hired as a Server.
But that resto also needs a Host, a Cook and at least another server.
Teens can't be cooks or Host maybe?..but even then. I tried hiring him on another business lot that Madird owns, and same thing happen.
Why can't I hire him?

Paper boy/girl are special NPC that need to be moved in before you can do most thing with them.

Ok, but then how come one was coming up for hiring, and not the other?
I think I have 4 paperboys in my game...

I should be more clear, if paperboy is on his route then you have limited action you can take, if you invite same paperboy over for a visit then you have more actions you can take.
Having 4 paperboys means you have either made one selectable or something to have the game to make a new one for only 3 are normal.

Sorry, I just checked in SimPE, I have 3 paperboys.
Yes...I did invite Charles over, at the business. I even try summoning him. But the option to hire him never comes up.
I saw also, that Charles and Shea are both set as NPC. They are paperboys.
Shea is part of another plan, so I am not interested in hiring him anywhere for now.
The other paperboy, the one that came up in the list of sims to hire, Tyler Chung, is now set as being Playable. Probably because he is now hired?
So yeah..this is why I asked..why this particular paperboy?
Tyler came up in the list when Madrid called Business/hire employe/for this lot..etc.
But for Charles...no can do.
This is annoying.

I had used the move teens to college before, and could not remember who I sent..
Went back to my Campus 'Hood, and found out.
Tyler Chung in one of them. Is this why HE showed up in the list and could be hire? Having him in the student bin, makes him a playable.
Sheesh...
Funny how...he is supposed to be IN Uni, but still can be hired in main 'Hood. yes, I get that he was not moved in into a Dorm yet..but still.

I thought I was the only one that hired service npc's and let them( made them!) work two jobs . I've been doing it for 4-5 years now. That part at the bottom of the second post about the service npc's/employees only showing up when you play the lot as the owner is the only oddity I've ever noticed. It's a fun way to get a lot more life, story and visibility out of an unplayable.

I made each paperboy/girl playable by moving them in with my dear elder Madrid. Just for a time, so he can teach them to study, again, I'll spare you my story line.
Of course, I changed their appearance, bought them new clothes, fix their turnons/turnoffz etc.
Then I made them Find own place (hacked computer).
I had the normal 3, but after those have been moved in, I could only move one at a time..until the next morning, because I have a mod that only allows one NPC paperboy/girl.
I stopped when the one that showed up was looking pretty retarded..not only his look, but his behaviors. lol (Screenshots to support)
Then I decided...my town could use a little simpleminded such as him, so he is still delivering the news paper.

Now, I have 6 teenagers living alone, I've merged them all together..and soon Madrid will hire them all at some of his businesses. Happiness.
