This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default Pets & Seasons
recently installed the title expansions. when I tried to run either, I get a message telling to make sure that its disc is in the drive. tried both discs of either expansion. happens with drive's autorun and also when I double click desktop icon.
no visible scratches on any of the discs.
have tried uninstalling and reinstalling; both or either title expansion.
most recent before those was Nightlife. it ran when both of those were uninstalled.
AnyGameStarter games of at least base game and University seem to work.

slightly related:: had not seen any cats or dogs in any of Bodyshop's sections.
and had not seen any "Miscellaneous" wall cover category in Home Crafter.

edit:: did patch both expansions after each install/reinstall.
operating system is XP.

unzipped the zip files from the discs to respective Program Files folders.
drive's autorun on each 4 discs still tells to make sure disc is in drive.

First, try deleting the game caches.

If you have any CC or mods, then test the game with a clean set of userdata folders.

Bodyshop is sims only, so no pets show up there.

This should help:

If you need further help, let us know in detail what you've tried.

have deleted the cache files multiple times. and have deleted the thumbnail files.

another user on the computer has been cc free; sometime after your post attempted to run game through that user.
same message.

You could try cleaning the discs, but if they are damaged then there's not much you can do. If you managed to reinstall from the discs though then that shows the damage isn't too bad.

have used a micro cleaner; was able to remove at least some dirt from the discs.

Default partly fixed
installed Apartment Life and was able to launch.
at first Pets and Seasons were absent. uninstalled then re-installed both.
game now has content from each of those expansions.

am unable to lauch AnyGameStarter games with either Pets or Seasons being the most recent. same message comes up.
