Default Pleasantview Forever! (formerly Another Pleasantview Remake)
NOTE: Project is nearing release. Latest project updates are on the last page.

Hey everyone! I only recently discovered the existence of the Create-A-World tool, so I've been toying around with it lately. To get accustomed to the editor, I thought I'd take a whack at something I know a lot of people want - A Sims 3 version of Pleasantview.

Don't get me wrong, Hraklis943's version is a great attempt, but it just doesn't really 'do it' for me, so to speak. So here I am working on a more 'proper' remake of Pleasantview, and I'm posting here to see what others can say about it so I can work to improve it before I release it.

All screenshots are linked because they're big.

This is a shot of the street layout, which I think is the most accurate part of this remake at the current point of development.

This is a shot of the road up the hill, and the land across the bridge (bridge currently absent).

A shot of the beach, with another look at the street layout

A shot of where the bridge would be if one was available without World Adventures.
http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/7719/pvp4w.jpg

More screenshots will be provided later.

-I know the bridge needs to be placed. I don't have World Adventures yet.
-I understand I'm a terrible terrain painter.
-Lots will come later. I may ask Hraklis943 for permission to use his re-made Pleasantview lots since they're already built and will save a lot of time.
-Nifty graphics features and scenic accessories (trees, stuff in the water, etc) will also be added later.

So, feedback? I already listed some issues i need to correct, but I'd like to know what everyone else thinks. All feedback is appreciated.

In fact if you wanna help out with it, that's good too. Not sure if this is the place to ask for that, though, but I thought I'd add that in anyway.

Aw, you beat me to it! Oh well. Actually I think you've got a better job done there anyway, so all is well. Whoever releases, it doesn't matter as long as there's a proper Pleasantview remake. At least I can say it helped me get accustomed to the way CaW works. I could work on something else to contribute, if you'd like. I can try making at least some of the characters. I made a really good re-make of the Pleasant family once but I forgot to back them up when I restored my computer not too long ago.

Oh, are you going to add anything extra to your Pleasantview? I see you've already got some new lots there that weren't in the original version, but anything else? In mine, I was going to add a river and waterfall in the extra space i have. I see you haven't added distant terrain yet. Annoying to work with, but looks great when you get it right.

Haha no your version was great too!
Especially the roads!
Well yes in my old version (Which i used the SunSetValley map) i added some extra houses of mine
Well i would really love to see the characters!
Im not very good at Sim Making and it would take very much to make the whole neighborhood + the sims...
So if you like you can try out the sims! :D
Ps: I want to add a distant terrain but its very hard to work with as you said...
I could use some help with that

Thanks!

Yeah, I figured out how to adjust it, but even then its a bit difficult to make it blend in perfectly, like some spots I can position the camera and you still see some inner edges of the thing, but overall its a great effect when you get it done right. I'd offer to put it there, but I don't think your files will work with my copy of CaW, since you have WA content and I don't. I'll certainly get to work on some sims though. I still have TS2 installed, so I can just take a bunch of screenshots for reference, layer them up in photoshop. Makes replicating sims a lot easier.

Are you using a small or medium map for your Pleasantview? I'm using a large map for mine. The roads fit a little more snugly in your screenshots, where in the original Ts2 version (and in mine) there was some space from the beach, and a lot of space on the other end by the water tower. I was going to use the extra space to put some extra features around, like a river, with a waterfall coming off one of the mountains.

uh, the bridges are in Hraklis' version, he posted screens of his to compare. I still don't have WA, so I can't put bridges in just yet.

if you did make the sims from sims 2 do you think they would have all of their family connections? example: the goth family being related to all their dead relatives. like mortimer goth and victor goth being properly connected on the family tree.

p.s. both of your pleasentviews look great

Wow they both look good! Have fun remaking everyone in town! Some of them are quite easy however some are actually pretty tough to do! I really struggled with Dustin for some reason.... I'm not very happy with him

I wrote a story that I've sort of gotten of track of (Last update was probably in late Sep. XD XD XD) http://www.thesims3.com/contentDeta...ontentId=103695

Finished the Pleasant family. I feel pretty good about Lilith and Angela, Mary-Sue feels okay, but Daniel just doesn't quite sit right with me. This happened the last time I remade this family too.

Can you show some comparison pics?

And for future reference, image tags are helpful.

I know how to use image tags, I just like to link them to save space.

And yeah, I'll get some comparisons up soon.

I agree, and Daniel needs it more than Mary-Sue. Mary-Sue I think just needs some work with her nose and mouth (there's not much I can do with the rest of her face). Daniel, however, kinda looks... effeminate to me, for lack of a better word. That and he needs better facial hair, but that was the closest one to his TS2 hair that i could find, although I haven't really checked CC facial hair for anything similar yet. Other than that, its the best I can do re-creating characters in completely different game environment with a different visual style.

I can send the .sim files for the parents to anybody who has some ideas to tweak them with. I saved them all to the CAS sim library so you can still edit them.

Anyway, next I'm probably gonna try the Broke family, and Don Lothario is as easy as just copying him from Riverview and pasting him in the necessary neighborhood.

I made the Goths....
Bella's dress is wrong but what do you think? i used the child versions of bella and mortimer from sunset valley and aged them up in CAS.

Mortimer-elder
Bella-adult
Cassandra-young adult
Alexander-child

EDIT: i still have to make the rest of the goth family and add them to the family using the super computer mod

Wow, that's a really good Goth family. Nice job!
I still need to start work on the Brokes.

I'm also thinking of re-making some of the townies, too. I'm gonna start with Meadow Thayer, and will take a whack at Goopy GilsCarbo afterward (y'know, since he appears in every instance of Pleasantview you create and everybody knows his bad genetics).

I actually gave the twins ago, a while back without knowing this project was going on.
My twins are young adults and found their noses the most troubling bit
