I, seriosuly, want some "Jetsons", atomic age kind of design going on, or at least have it touched upon. It's one of my favorite design styles because it can be used across a wide spectrum of decades, and well into the future.

Here's to round walls an windows, glass everything and more elevators, and eveyrthing with a hover feature.

Oh, and simple modern decor, please. From the real world.

Well I remember when Ambitions was released people whined that the time machine was basically a rabbithole and that we couldn't see what happened to our sims. So we'll finally be able to see it.
Curious to see how the gameplay will work out but I'm betting on a World Adventures system with a long loading screen for a subhood "Futur" or a subhood "Past". The WA-type subhoods will have adventures to do just like WA. BTW Matrix, someone posted the survey text in a comment in SimsVIP and it mentions 'visiting the past', it could be added to the list.

Agreed. I'm hoping for a nice cross between the Futureshock set and that Retro 50's set. Also, I'm hoping those Sleep Tanks from the Sims 2 consoles will make an appearance. They were kinda cool.

While this is, by far, the most exciting of the three Expansion Packs for me, I am very disappointed that they cut down the original Time Travel EP idea to just going to the future.

♫ Keeping this here until EA gives us a proper playable woodwind/brass instrument ♫
For now, though, my decorative Bassoon conversion for TS4. =)

My prediction: This EP takes your Sims 25 years into the future, and the disc is actually just The Sims 2. :p

EA only mentioned the future, so I'm only doing the Future. If they do add the past, I'll update it, no worries.

The Jetsons is too easy and suburban...I'd want a Blade Runner sort of aesthetic going on- maybe a new futuristic city world!

Well, it depends on what the engine can realistically handle. I wouldn't be a fan of every house exterior being a shell, like in LN, because EA wants to skimp on the build tools and mechanics. I wouldn't mind walls made of octagons (which we have already, and free) and neon lights everywhere, and when every you walk, you hear the sound of metal if we can build them ourselves. Sounds like heaven lol

I think that the "Time Travel" feature is a Time Machine or Portal (from Lifetime Rewards) that let your family teleport from your current world to a "vacation" world with Modern/Futuristic Theme (maybe something like "Jetsons" as matrix54 said). Probably it will be something like World Adventures. You will be able to play with your family in the "Future" and get back to the "Static Past" when you desire. All the progress of your family from the "Future" (high tech objects, skills, money, etc) will be available when you get back to the past.

sorry i dont know english very well.

You know there will.

Unless they update CAW again, to add "Future" to the world tag (like Downtown or Vacation and, now, University). Then, how will they update Lunar Lakes with the same tags?

World Adventures seems to be the basis for a number of the follow up EP's. Ambitions was basically and expansion of the WA adventure engine. Instead of completing missions in another world, EA gave us a couple of new professions, like the investigator, stylist, and home designer who completed missions in the home world.

University is basically another World Adventure world. Instead of collecting Visa Points, you collect college credits, which eventually get you a "degree." The "degree" translates into and advantage -- probably some sort of multiplier to the job progression. But it might be as simple as giving a one time bonus to your job progression score. Add to that, two new parties, a few rabbithole classrooms, and a dozen or so new items. Plus you get the abiility to rent a house or rooms.

With the tropical island pack, EA is basically going to give us another Sunlit Tides. It looks like we will have boats, basically vehicles which travel over the water, as opposed to over roads. Plus they will give us the ability to have moving buildings. I suspect this amounts to allowing us to use the build tools to build on a special boat platform. Add to that a simple business simulation -- a stripped down version of OFB. If we are lucky, we may get functional restaurants.

With the future world, we basically get another World Adventures world, like Lunar Lakes, with a whole bunch of new stuff. We may see futuristic versions of the Bridgeport shell buildings. A flying car is probably going to work like a regular car, except that it will rise off of the ground until it gets to its destination, then lowers back to ground level after it arrives. Other than that, we will probably see the same old rabbitholes and many familiar items simply with a new mesh and/or texture.

Nothing here strikes me as being truly revolutionary. With Pets we got a whole variety of new types of sims (cats, dogs, horses plus miscellaneous minor sims.). With Seasons we got some pretty major changes to the game engine as well as the look and feel of the game. All three of theee new supplements seem to build on past expansions, like WA.

You know how in Seasons where your sim befriends an alien and can ultimately use the alien's spaceship to travel to the alien's homeworld? Only then it's just a rabbithole where they tell you what happened while your sim was away?

Seems to me this Future EP could've served as the gameplay that would've shown up in Seasons, if traveling via spaceship wasn't just a rabbithole...

This would've been great had it been part of Seasons. As it is, it feels like it's just going to be another Showtime fiasco.

Unless they blow me away with the upcoming walk-through, this one looks like a pass for me.

Since a lot of the gameplay hasn't been explained, other than that there's time travel, the only bit I'm excited about is the new furniture and clothes and possibly new objects with fun gameplay.

There's one thing that bothers me though: What are they going to to with the current time machine? Is it going to function when this EP is released so we can actually travel to the various time periods alluded to by the new clothing brought back with your sim? Or is it just going to be rendered mostly useless as we'd now be able to build our own worlds to travel to?

I will say one thing though: There seriously better not be cars or cellphone reception in the Victorian era or I'm going to commit homicide with a toothbrush.

You obviously have a time machine already to know so much about two EPs about which we have only been given the barest details as yet

Not opposed to complaining in principle. Once I found out what was in Showtime, I complained about it. Gave it a chance on release, discovered I was right, and complained some more But complaining on the basis of information released by EA, or better yet gameplay, is different from complaining about an imaginary EP that you first had to invent before critiquing it... what I call "precomplaining". A popular activity but not exactly empirical Your scenario could be correct... or you could hate either or both of these EPs for completely different reasons relating to features that haven't even been mentioned yet

I don't share your objection to Uni and Ambitions either. In the real world, both college and (most kinds of) work involve completing tasks that other people assign you to obtain rewards. That may not be as novel as you'd like gameplaywise, but it is accurate... a reasonable way to construct a simulation of the real world. That's why I don't understand the objections to ANY goal-directed gameplay in the Sims; our real life choices are very often, precisely, goal-directed.

But to each their own There's a philosophy that says "better to be pessimistic and be pleasantly surprised than to be optimistic and to be disappointed". If that's your approach, hope it works out!

Isn't this supposed to be Time Travel EP?

I'm not interesting for just the future only. I'm looking for the stone age too.

I hope the future world is a futuristic city with skyscrapers, not a small rural town.

Honestly, I was only excited for the past. Victorian Era? Wild West? The 50's? Medieval? Those all sound like a lot more fun the future, in my opinion.

On the University side of things, I don't think it will be TOO remarkable, but I believe it will just make the overall life of a sim that much more complete.
I really like the idea of being able to share dorms and rent rooms and whatnot, though.

As for Island Paradise, I am extremely excited. I've always been obsessed with the idea of being able to design your own cruise ship, or at least go on a cruise.
Now I assume neither of those things are going to happen, but being able to make a super cool yacht would be almost as awesome. For me, the most important
part of this expansion is that it gives me a reason to extend the elder stage of life and gives me something to do during it. I always felt like once I got to the elder
stage, I'd rather just have my sim die. But now being able to retire and go sailing around on a custom-built house boat and even run my own island resort as an old
man, that sounds pretty sweet actually.

P.S. - A combination of travelling to the past and having Island Paradise is a perfect set up for building your own pirate ship and sailing the seven seas. Just saying,
that would be perfect.

The future environment better be superior than the earth-like shoebox that was Lunar Lakes. Standards need to be higher.

I really don't think we can speculate at this point whether it's going to be rubbish or not. The idea, to me, sounds awesome. But the proof will be in the pudding, and we're going to have to wait a while to try some of that delicious looking pudding.

But yeah, knowing EA, it will either be fantastically good, or hopelessly rubbish. They don't do half measures.

A small rural town with high walls, manned by bowmen and a couple of specialists with old rifles (five bullets to each rifle) sounds realistic to me. As a matter of fact, it should look just like a town from the middle ages, only the fields should be inside the walls and everybody should wear gas masks and use automatic toilets.
