So I've been looking for a good default skin because the maxis skins are a bit boring, however I'm having trouble finding one that doesn't have bright faces. It's distracting when their faces are noticably shinier and brighter than their bodies and necks. I also want the skins to be fairly close to the original maxis in color (I particularly hate ultra-pale S1), since it would be a little distracting to see existing sims skin color change a lot.

I already tried those. I didn't notice any problems until I got some new eyes , but that could just be a coincidence. The S3 skin's face colored looked a lot different than their body color, though. Unfortunately I haven't got any pictures.

Are you sure they aren't just wearing default makeup over the skin? There's one very white foundation-thingy that covers most of the face, and it can make faces look brighter. Might just be the light, but I think I can see a line in the middle of the forehead.

The brightness can also just be the light, or the way the skin is made. If you have SimPE you can check the textures, or you can make a Bodyshop project with the skins and have a look at the textures there.

No, they're not wearing any makeup. I also don't have SimPE and are actually kind of hesitant to install it because I don't really need it.

Oh, and by the way, they're currently using the Camera Shy skins that he.mf.bg suggested.

I like these especially because the skintones are fairly close the maxis colors (something about the saturation in some custom skins really annoys me) and because I like the way the noses look. For some reason I'm incredibly picky about noses, there are so many skins I otherwise loved but had to get rid of because the nose didn't have enough definition. I don't think these skins have the face being brighter than the rest of the body effect, though I know what you mean (I had to stop using leh skins for that reason).
