Default Sims 2 to SIms 3 conversion - the infamous Batcowl!
I'm going at it again :D

Hey guys!

I really need some help with converting Sims 2 accessories into Sims 3 accessories. I started my Batman project about a year ago (and have even asked for help here) but due to college and me moving to another country I just couldn't find the time to finish it.

Since I have time now, I really want to nail down the final parts of the costume.

I want to create a Batcowl. This one - http://funnyycats.weebly.com/dc-sims-3.html - is perfect. How do I convert it to work in my Sims 3 game.

There was a discussion on another website, but I could not make heads or tails out of anything, so I'm hoping if anyone can help me out

Thanks a lot.

Hey SlovBoy!

So far I know is what you need SimPE For extracting it. This part might help you through to do that: http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title...ion_Tute_Step_6
But do you want to know how to make an accessory for the sims 3? Because when you got it extracted and exported it like a obj. then it basically is the same like meshing something only for the sims 3. Hope this helps you out a bit ^-^

Hey, me again!

Okay so I followed the instructions found on the website you sent me.. I've hit my first wall

It says that I need to extract the GMDC file and since I'm trying to do the mask (and I guess the hair too?) I'm only interested in that mesh. However I can't find the GMDC file in that package (when I open it in SimPE).

Am I doing something wrong?

Well, you actually need to fina a .Obj file in the package and extract that one, because the GMDC file has the mesh in it. So you need to open up the "AllRes" (Just clicking on it is fine). Then there are a bunch of stuff in this list, like: Material override, global data, texture image, etc. But we need the "Geometric Data Container" from that list. Click on that file, and in the window next to it (the resource list), there will be a file there too. The file in that window always end with _gmdc. Click on the file, and now in the plugin view (the under window) you'll see something showing up as well.
There is also a screenshot in the tutorial that will help you out: http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title...-extraction.jpg
Although, yours is a clothing piece so I guess there won't be any shadow mesh in it like in the picture.

I'm sorry if this is kind of confusing, but I hope it will help you out!

Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it

Alright I understand. I've been following the tutorial closely and yet the GMDC file doesn't come show up in the Resource List.

So this is what I do (now stop me if or when I'm doing something wrong ):

1.) Boot up SimPE (obviously) and hit Open.

2.) I select the Mask piece.

But no GMDC

The only thing that has the GMDC included is if I pick the .sim file.

There's a step missing, I just know it.

Ohh wait, I think I've got it. The one you load up only has a texture, but I guess there is a different package for the spikey ears... thingies on Batman's head. Which means, that the package you opened only has the mask texture part and the other package probably has the spikey thingies and that one is definitely a mesh (With probably it's own texture as well). So I guess you could take a look at a package called "batman's hair" Or something that's close to the spikey thingies.
