The sims 3 keeps shutting down my computer
Hello everyone, I really need your help. Lately "The sims 3" game started to shut down my desktop pc. When I am starting to create a sim after few moments the screen turns to black and pc still runs but I can't do anything else, except restart it. I haven't faced such problem before, everything used to work just perfectly. And computer fan shouldn't be the problem, it works just fine. What should I do?
P.S. Sorry for my grammar mistakes. :D

Have you tried running a clean game to confirm whether it is a mod or error in your user folder? Simply move your user folder, the whole TS3 user folder, to your desktop. Start the game and it will create a new user folder. Play around and see if the error occurs.


Yes, the computer shutdown only occur in Sims 3. Also, I've tried to running a clean game and it didn't help.

Might be. The first time this thing happened, I've reinstalled The Sims 3 and some of the Expansion packs. Unlucky, it didn't help at all.

Check your windows error logs, they may contain a clue to this issue. Locking at a black screen is often a vid driver issue or DX issue, so consider reinstalling DX and/or the vid drivers. Also, when something suddenly stops working properly, suspect a windows update issue; this can be difficult to troubleshoot, it could be as simple as a hotfix not completely installed (the update logs will show this) or an incompatible patch; you could try a system restore to a point before this problem occurred.
