In Castaways, they used a shell for a phone. I thought that was quite humorous.

Has anyone come across maternity wear that has a long skirt? all I can find are short skirts or pants and it just doesn't look right.

I haven't found one. Have you tried a longer maternity top with the regular long skirt? I don't know if that would work or not.

Which one works? Might be nice to have that one instead. I am sure it is not easy to remake a sink without the animations and I am glad that at least people have tried. Unfortunately, the really experienced modders for the most part are not interested in medieval stuff.

I've completely revamped buy mode to display appropriate items first in the catalogue, so now I can concentrate on decorating houses.
Has anyone seen any decent medieval larders or cash registers though?
I'm using the one here

but to be honest it's just a modern fridge with shelves on the side.

Meh I wouldn't download anything from TSR if they paid me .. .. I really feel you're better off using an ingame fridge and CASting it in wood and putting it in a pantry.

I wonder if it would be possible to remove that square effect in s3pe.

Yeah I know what you mean, but if I require the items, then politics gets put aside, rightly or wrongly

MATY has some converted Sims Medieval items. There is a larder in there that looks really good. They are in the Pudding Factory and the name of the thread is obvious.

I'm so happy to see this thread and 'alternative' ways to get sims about without cars being discussed. I too am hoping to eliminate roads (or at least cars) for a medieval / fantasy theme world.

I've experimented with a few isolated tropical island communities so far - using the rabbithole rugs by jynx. I created a custom schoolhouse but I had a real problem with kids not going to school on their own unless I was actively playing that sim household. Even with master controller or awesomemod's bless function and overlord or whatever mode, I could not keep them all in line. A lot of the kids were failing school from not going on time, and some sims with custom rabbithole jobs were also getting fired for not showing up enough.

Maybe it was the way I had the island laid out or whatever, but without those apparently ever-important carpools, taxis and schoolbuses, my sims job and school performance went down the toilet. It's too bad because the jynx rabbithole rugs are a great alternative to burying the buildings underground (when you're hiding them under a different theme like primitive island, medieval world, etc). The rugs themselves work great, its just the sims using them that seems to fail me. Everyone visits the grocery and bookstore just fine (autonomously) but just fail to go to work and school. They go sometimes, but sometimes it seems like they just forget without the carpool or bus honking at them. I'm not sure why.

Any feedback on this appreciated.

I want to build a no-roads world post-pets expansion using only horses as well. I do hope someone will make some great carriages and wagons!

Also, despite mari jo's post being about TS2, I want to say I enjoyed it very much. I too am "envious" har har, and I hope maybe it will inspire some more great TS2 to TS3 medieval conversions!

Love.

There's an entire thread over on MATY of conversions from TSM items to TS3. Most are posted there; some are links to offsite.

The Merrye Makers has a ton of medieval stuff including solutions for kitchens, bathrooms, cash registers and a lot of other stuff. Probably worth a visit if you're trying to do a medieval world http://www.modthesims.info/browse.p...showType=1&gs=0 / end shameless group advertisement.

Thinking ahead, it would be nice to travel from our Medieval town to Ancient Rome or an Aztec city via the traveler mod. I haven't seen anything significant that fits this description however.
Here's some nice Medieval stuff too, this is probably my favourite set, apart from the Merry Makers set.

Oh, that is nice!! How did I miss it? Thank you.

I have been thinking of the traveler mod too. I like that you can play the vacation town if you wish, even have your sims move there. It might be great for a medieval world where nobles and royalty travel to find a wife or make political connections. I was actually thinking Egypt might make a nice place to travel and definitely France although they would need serious makeovers. I have seen very few medieval/ancient worlds out there. There are some that are being made although they seem to be stalled at the moment. I am using Hidden Springs as my base so can't really share mine. I did start one with a very modified Riverview but I like the looks of the castles in Hidden Springs better.

Anyone up for a Social Group on playing Sims 3 in Medieval Style? Any suggestions for a name? It might be a nice place to discuss objects we find, worlds, share ideas, etc. I am willing to start one. It would be a lot easier to find even if it wasn't a large group.

Oh forgot to add..I have some good ideas on how to use recolored parts of modern outfits plus the small amount of medieval items to make some nice female clothing. I have had pretty good luck with it and would love to share some pictures. We are seriously lacking in children's clothing and teen boy clothing but there are a few things out there that help.

Do you think, that it's possible to create a world like Skyrim in CAW?
Not the whole world, but parts of the map. Maybe Riverforest and Whiterun.

There are no roads. Your sims have to travel by horse. Maybe you can create some "magic cult places" (hidden subway stations).
I read, that it's possible with "Showtime" to change the working clothes.
Difficult to build the town walls. I'm a fan of jje1000's medieval world. Every town gate must be a lot. In the end it's possible.

Jje1000 used the wall that came with CAW for at least part of his town wall. Then he didn't have to place it on a lot and there were not spaces between. You can build lots for the town gates and still use the CAW walls if you paint non-routable under the walls.

You could build a world like Skyrim in CAW. It probably wouldn't be as big, but it is possible. I am testing the no roads/no cars thing now and will report back on how it works.

Ok, I think that there is enough medieval stuff around the community. I followed all of your helpful links.
This was the first step for me for creating a medieval world. To find out, if the game will work in a medieval setting. Finding furnitures, clothes ...
The next step for me are CAW textures and houses. I tried to make some Skyrim look-alike houses. WITHOUT CC. Well, it's difficult for me because of my low building skills. I want to use all the CC in a savegame. The CAW world should be CC free.

Without roads, every house should have a horse stable, but that doesn't fit Skyrim citys like Whiterun. I think, you need a hidden subway station.

Textures are very important. You need a new range of colors. I'm working on a few textures.

My conclusion:
- Yes, it's possible to create a medieval world without roads. I tested a small world, I made a year ago. Problems: my sims don't use the hidden subwaystations. They are always running. Haven't test the world after Pets.
- There are enough items to make such a world reliable ...
- ... and some mods, you'll need

There are tuts on how to make dirt roads if you want to add those. Exaple of nice dirt roads by EA are in Hidden Springs. Someone ask for premade worlds. If you want to remake Riverview or Shadyvalley there are templates in your game called Riverview.liteworld etc. Roads already placed but no buildings etc. Just browse to where those are located when in CAW if you want to use those and you can certaintly alter the terrain in those or whatever when using CAW.

An easy enough mod would be to make a rickety looking bookshelf and list it as fridge kinda a root cellar in the basement shelf. In my grandpa's old house he had a trap door that went under his house and it was kinda a dug out hole under the floor that had shelves for canned goods and storage for potatoes and such.
