This user has the following games installed:

Sims 3, World Adventures, Ambitions, Late Night, Generations, Pets, Showtime, Supernatural, Seasons, University Life, Island Paradise, Into the Future
Default Used games: Can I register one stuff pack now to use all online things?
So I thought not being able to register my game means I don't get all the nice extras, like some downloads and those free points you get for buying the game in the first place. Now this game is full of online functions and I can't use any of these, because I can't upload anything?? I can't use like half of the games new features for buying a used game. There must be a way, right? Or not? Can I buy a stuff pack (because those are the only ones I don't have) and register that, and then I can upload?

Unfortunately it won't let you register EPs or SPs without registering the basegame first.

Would it work to get a basegame some time and register only that, though I already have a basegame installed from another disk?

If your code is original then it will let you register with the online feature. As in, I bought the disc version of Generations when it first came out but lost the code so I use the ones provided online but all of those are registered codes already entered into the online feature do-hickey. They don't allow you to tick them off like they allow you here on MTS on your profile. You have to enter the valid code for the base game, expansion packs, and stuff packs for it to be recognized by the system that you own it.

If you bought the games new and legally and have the code for them all then it should work as long as you haven't made a different account using the same codes. I see nothing wrong though with losing the code for a game you legally paid for and using the ones provided online.

Correct me if I'm wrong about all of that and/or I misunderstood the question. c:

I just went through this because I wanted to use Create A World. I had bought the basegame and a couple expansions second hand. I couldn't get Create A world without a brandnew basegame. But all I did was buy it: I didn't b other to uninstall the old one and install a new one because I am lazy. Just having the basgame registered was all I needed. But then I saw a sale at Origin where most of what I'll ever want was on sale for ten dollars each so now I have all but the first two expansions I bought as new items.

Long story short: apparently, if you buy the basegame new, you can do whatever you want after that.

Er, sorry I don't get half of what you're saying. It's a little confusing. About what codes provided online are you talking? What is it with ticking off what...? xD
The problem is that I bought games second-hand and the previous owner used all the codes already. So I have them here on disc and I have the valid codes for them, but only to install them, because registered they were already.

The "codes provided online" are illegal keygens, discussion of which is banned on MTS. I didn't edit those references out of the post because it contains other useful info and wouldn't make much sense post-snipping, but that topic of conversation is finished now.

@Skae2.0 Yeah, that's what I mean by needing the new code. They're already registered and--even though you bought them--that code has been used by the system unless you bought from someone who never even opened it or used the code online. Basically, to answer your original question, you can't register online unless your code is unused. Trying to submit an expansion or stuff pack won't prove that you have the base game. It sucks for people who buy used and all, but it makes sense to have to prove you have a legal game when unlocking online features.

@Nysha I read the rules and I was a little hesitant to say that but I was under the impression that Skae lost their code and not that it was a used copy.

It sucks but these days EA isn't particularly focused on discs but rather Origin downloads. So I imagine not much thought goes into used games, really. It's a shame though that it's like that considering how the discs are better due to their independence and faster download speed.

I fought my way through posts on the internet and the so called "support" now. And after trying to get rid of me, telling me it's not possible or at least leading the conversation in a circle for felt ages, it - surprise surprise - suddenly was possible to take the registration from one account and put it on mine. They can do that in the support chat. They just don't want to, I think.

I had the same issue that you: got the base game at second hand (so the key is already used and invalid) and some packs new from retail store, i have the physical copies of most expansions (some of them are also second hand, like Katty Perry, Nightlife, univesity, island paradise and Pets) and two were even pre-ordered (into the future, world adventures and supernatural) so this clusterfuck is not registrable because the basegame is second hand.

I'm not sure about rules here but still you can get the DLC packs if they are either free (easy mode, just claim your gift and open it with the launcher) or on sale (hard mode, I paid for the futureshock packs had to do the old html code trick to get my downloads and then decrapify them). What you can not do is unlocking the superstar stuff or sending your busty acrobat to do an online tour.

Also even if the game is fun is not worth buying it two times, the first game of the saga was the best (even if limited to play with highlanders and zombies only) and each sequel has less and less (well sims 2 enhaced stories, and sims 3 enhaced customization... but sims 4 has NOTHING)

It's not worth buying it two times anyway. I love the games, but I can't believe how much money they take for those when they're all so fucked up. (I swear, you have to be a programmer to have a chance your game isn't blowing up at some point!)
