Default TSR and MTS2
Just so everybody's on the same page,

The Sims Resource [TSR] has decided to ban all mention of MTS2 on their site. This includes deleting forum threads which link members to MTS2 and any sigs/avatars/whatever that do the same. The reason given is that MTS2 contains adult content, despite the fact that we provide a lot more besides.

Our philosophy here at MTS2 is that you're born naked [some lucky schmo's even die that way >_^], your children will be born through sexual acts and yes, they will be naked too. We see no reason to censor our adult content beyond keeping it out of the hands of minors. In fact we are quite proud to have ALL content on this site for free.

As we are a modding site, "t3h pr0n" is not our main focus but such content can be a healthy part of any lifestyle. We respect TSR to do what's best for their members and we shall continue to do what's best for ours.

We the Admins of MTS2 want our members to comply with TSR's wishes and cease any mention of us on their site. Anybody caught trolling or whinging over there will make us very angry indeed.

We respect that people have differing philosophies on what should be available and what shouldn't. We're not in the business of challenging other peoples methods and believe we all can co-exist in a fuzzy, free, Brady Bunch sort of way.

So, now you know. Dont mention MTS2 on TSR! Thanks!
- Admins.

Exactly! I see the inclusion of nudity as simply a matter of completeness (excuse the oxymoron).

Well, gee, thanks. I'm an American and I had no idea that was my philosophy Dahr-ky. Thanks for telling me and every other american what we think.....I love general prejudice, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Forget my comment about this topic, I'm truly offended but then again that's just me.

Let's have less flame.

Dahr-ky, I do appreciate your fine work, but have pity on us poor Americans. Yesterday was an embarassment for many of us.

It happened before the adult section was taken down for maintence, there are some puritans running around in TSR as mods.

I tried to understand the reasoning behind it and PM a mod about and what I got as a reply looked exactly as a message from tech support.

In truth I just go there for the community updates, there is nothing to be learned at TSR with that kind of attitude towards other sites.

Honestly I wasn't thrilled with either choice. The ad for the presidential job must look like this "President position open. Must be power hungry and a severe egotist. Actual spine not required, one will be provided for you. Wise and generous peace loving saps need not apply" Something to that effect. Hehe.

TSR has sucked and always will suck. Steve Bonham is a joke.
Only free stuff they have is crap.
This is by far the best TS2 site I have seen and I have been playing the sims since it's first day out all those years ago. I remember the very first sims sites. Just like anything else fun it is turned into being all about the money. Don't get me wrong, I know it takes money to run a site, been there done that, bought the t shirt. I know for fact you could buy a house on what a couple of sites have made off their subscription services. I know I live just down the street from the owners of WDS.
I enjoy paying for custom content and then uploading to the exchange. There you will find all bought content for FREE!

I found MTS2 through TSR (when I googled for help, their site came up first), so I'm dissapointed that other TSR readers won't be directed to you guys. I'm using a number of hacks and objects created by the talented people here, I find that they really enhance my game, and I'm a little sad for the players who may never find these and future objects.

On the other hand, I do understand where TSR is coming from, even if I don't like it (and I especially don't like that they've been dismissive to the mods here, as the above poster mentioned). There are a number of young readers over at TSR - though the age requirement to read there is 13, I dont' doubt that many younger players use it by misrepresenting their ages. The TSR mods have a responsibility to keep the site "safe" for those readers - and while I disagree with what "safe" means, they have a stated policy and they have a right to stick to it.

The short version is that I'm glad I found you before TSR made you a taboo subject.

In both sex and politics, all i have to say is this:

I think the 'nudity' reason is basically a coverup for the simple fact that they got jealous of the attention this place was getting. They can try to hide the competition but the site with the best content will win out, simple.

I came from the Operation Flashpoint community where i made addons and was appalled by the policy of TSR and other sims sites of charging for addons and skins alike..c'mon a skin is a bitmap...you edit if for a few hours and you're done, hardly gonna make you millions nor should you expect it to.

Personally I feel hard done by when i see sims addons being charged for since me and hundreds of other Operation Flashpoint modders make much much more sophisticated 3DModels/scripts/Addons and never charge a penny.
I spent 6 months working on my Ju-87 Stuka Aircraft, the praise i received from it when released was reward enough, true fans need praise not cash and this site is doing a good job at relaying that message. TSR on the other hand is about economics, you don't got money, u don't got addons...simple.

I had a TSR subscription. As of today it is cancelled.
I encourage others to vote with their money and do the same.

BTW, I had a TSR subscription for a while way back before Sims2. Some of my finest work was rejected on the bases that it was "too gross." They're just a bunch of prissy, doll hugging ninnies.

rofl bootbrisket! I loves your work =)

Sorry XLStormyLX but every nation is viewed as a whole in some ways - and us Aussies and Europeans find that you Yanks - in general - are a tad moralistic and rigid when it comes to things of the flesh. However, were you to say that my nation is generally viewed as a bunch of beer-swilling reprobates who suffer from cultural cringe, I wouldn't get pissed because .... on the whole its true!

As for TSR I don't go there - because its a pay site. SymplyTrish - that is priceless love hehe =)

Like Scanger I came from another game as a modder/skinner/map maker. No one ever charged any money for their work. It wasn't until I moved into the Sims community that I saw people making others pay for a few skins... I have no respect for any of those people nor the pay sites that encourage it even more.

As Urban Choas once said: Props to the guys/gals that are still in it for the fun.

Thanks to our admins for sticking by their guns. Ive been modding computer games since Ultima 3 and Questron were the hot items on the Atari 400. I was involved with one of the first BBS's in Houston and we fought like hell to keep advertisement off the internet. I can understand the need for it but we modders are offering our mods free to the community and we extend the life of games free of charge for the game companies. The best thing we can do is to keep bringing good mods to this site. Anything I produce in the next few years for TS2 will state in the readme that no pay sites have the right to distribute it. Thanks guys.

I had some little British friends when I was a kid, they had dolls and they were anatomically correct! That is so cool!
I have had it with the US as a whole, not individuals.
I would love to move to England. If I start a pay site maybe I can get enough money together to move there! (wink wink)

I actually believe TS2 is run by a Brit.

But personally, I don't see the point in the adult downloads here, they don't really do anything except slow the site down to a crawl, sucking up all the bandwidth.

IMHO, the time and energy would be better devoted to housing information about *gasp*, modding the Sims 2. As it is you have to search the forum to find any hard info, and that's a pain, because the servers are slow (since the porn downloads are dragging it down).

PS Ha! Bush won. Deal with it, lefties

Rather interesting, seeing as how the first "realistic" skin tone I downloaded was from there, and well before the game was even released. Seems like a double standard to me, or maybe the heat got too hot in the kitchen so to speak.

Thanks for the heads up.

Bah, now I am up in arms (o.k., so we had a bad day here in the states.......wuh.....wait......a bad eight years........(sob..sob)).

I almost enjoy it when 'sugar and spice' people try to talk me down at TSR and the official site. Of course, it's much trickier to 'talk back' at TSR, with their sickly sweet policy. And I've been so happy to point people over here, if I think they have two brain cells to rub together. What just makes smoke come out of my ears is the whole idea of banning links to sites that contain (gasp) nudity, and further banning all discussion about those sites, etc.. These moralist morons can bite me! That kind of policy is the signature of a truly decrepid cultural vestigalism (not a word, but it makes sense here).

I don't forgive, nor 'understand'. such policies on the internet. I understand why TS2 is the way it is. There are laws governing games. Bad laws. But a fairly decent BBS like TSR is just so way off with this moralist crud. Parents either know and trust their kids to see the 'net, or they don't.
