This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage
Default Playable NPC won't enter house
Hello!

So I'm currently playing the Sims 2 with all the expansion packs up through Bon Voyage. One of my sims that I created befriended an NPC. I didn't know at the time that the sim was an NPC because she was on a business lot (a salon to be exact). When inviting the NPC over, that sim will not enter the lot even though I've checked to make sure the doors are unlocked. All she does is simply stand there outside. When I click on her, the only options are to talk, influence or flirt. I figured this had something to do with her being an NPC. So, what I did was use the boolProp cheat and add the NPC to the household. I turned off the cheat once the NPC was added and then proceeded to move the NPC out to make her playable. I've moved her out and into a separate home, and she's fully functional. I have no issues there. The problem occurs when I recently decided to have the sim I created (that is best friends with her) invite the NPC-turned-playable character over. Once again, she comes and there's the option to greet the other character. Even though she is now playable, I only get the same three options when I click on her: talk to, flirt with, or influence to. There isn't an option to shoo or say goodbye. So the NPC-turned-playable sim just stands outside the house while my sim that invited her over goes about her business.

Does anyone know a solution to this issue, or if I've done something wrong? I have SimPe, so I'm not sure if it's something I can fix there or not. Also, when looking up the NPC that I've made playable in simpe, she now shows up as playable but for some reason the interactions between her and her friend are as if she's still an Open for Business NPC. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Again I have all the expansion packs up through Bon Voyage, all the latest patches, I'm running through Windows 7 and I haven't had any game glitches.

Thanks!

What NPC was she to start with?

I no longer come over to MTS very often but if you would like to ask me a question then you can find me on tumblr or my own site tflc. TFLC has an archive of all my CC downloads.

I was just about to say I hope she wasn't a stylist, I do believe they are on the do not play list. I forget why but it might be they do not have full data.

Even if I can play with her in her home and have her do normal things like regular sims? It's just whenever she's invited over to anyone else's house, she can't/doesn't do anything. Although her not having full data would make sense on that part.

The list says hair stylist is safe. http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/Game_gui...safe_to_play_as

It sounds like the NPC is still in hair stylist mode and the game may still flag her as working, you should try the teleporter cat and make her a townies and then clear her off and try to call her again to come over.

Thanks for this tip! I really appreciate it. I'm going to try it now. So once I download the teleporter cat, I use it to make her a townie? And then what? Sorry, I'm a bit confused as to how it works. Will making her a townie move her out of the house I've moved her into? I've set it up pretty nicely and would hate to have to redo it, but I can.

Sadly, this did not work for me. Thanks for introducing me to the teleporter cat though. That will be very useful for me in the future. I'm not sure why it is, but for some reason the sim still on has three interaction options when invited over.

Any other suggestions?

Where is stylist on that list? I can't find it. I know a couple of years back they were mentioned on a thread as not being safe.

If you scroll towards the bottom where it says safe NPCs. They're all in green I believe. Hair Stylist is one of the safe ones.

It's good it's on that list, (I was looking under s for stylist) but I know there was discussion on that thread if they were safe or not, myself I would not make them playable.

Ok back from testing the Hair Stylist and there is only 3 actions you can do with them, flirt, talk and entertain but all 3 do not have the full actions in the menu.

You can invite them over but you can not use the call over option and they will just stand around at the place you greet them at.

The Hair Stylist should go back on the "do not touch" area for they may not be safe to do any thing other than being a hair stylist.

Thanks for all your help. I'll slowly break ties that my sim has with them.

Yes, I had a feeling they did not have full interactions.

Any sim who does not have a full range of interactions when invited over is best not made playable.

I think we need to stop using the word safe here - there is no evidence the NPC is unsafe just annoying because they don't drop their pre-existing coding when becoming playable. It's this sort of word that gets people over worried about 'corruption'.

@k6ka

Hopefully k6ka can change the wiki info on the "Hair Stylist" to "should not be touch" because of the scripting that is involved with this NPC.

ADD: I just went in to try "CJ-Debugger" http://cyjon.net/node/148 and it did not work on this NPC.

This gives me deja vu, as I am sure that was said on 'that' thread, about the wiki being changed to mention stylists was unsafe. Of course given my memory I have no idea what the thread was called or anything. Are there others apart from k6ka who know how to do change the wiki?. Also the Charlatan needs to be changed as he is not a universal but last time I looked he was with Crumplebottom and the like on the wiki.

That's weird because I've actually made Hair Stylists playable, and they seem no different from regular playable Sims and townies.

They are a bit glitchy because when a Sim gets a makeover, the same Hair Stylist can only give one makeover before the game spawns another Hair Stylist to take their place.

I should make a test neighbourhood and experiment with these NPCs some time.

The one time I tried to work with the hair stylist (I tried to set up a date with a user-made) I got only the three interactions myself. I did not make the stylist playable, though.

I considered it more annoying than alarming or unsafe. Too bad. The game spawned quite a cutie there.

Thanks to ALL free-site creators, admins and mods.

Just take a photo of her (or use the Tombstone of Life and Death, the teleportation painting, shrub, or the Insimenator to summon her), then take a photo of her, so you can re-check what she looks like, and re-create her in Create a Sim. Unless you want to just add her to the family.

I'm not entirely sure if this method is safe because in all the times I've interacted with these Sims, nothing bad has happened. Yet other players have said otherwise.

I've actually considered re-creating her. But I'm not sure if it's worth it in the long run. Before I let this go all together, does anyone know if this is something that can be fixed with simpe? I mean would it be possible to clone her interactions to that of a regular townie or something? Just a suggestion.

generally it is best to do just social interactions with any NPC type.
though if you made any of the NPC type playable before (through social interactions) without any problems, then it would be ok to add that type through cheats (and/or through mods/hacks).

You can extract her in SimPE and then clone her in body shop then make her new in your game then use the teleporter cat to make her a townie after bringing her either by the move in option or using the teleporter cat to bring her to one of you playable lots, move her in then turn her into a townie.

You can do it in-game with a teleporter mod, such as the teleportation shrub, or painting. Or you can do it with SimPE, by editing the family information resource (it has the bins of the households of all your Sims, and the bins with all the townies, and NPCs etc.
