I was playing the game about a couple weeks ago, and wanted to play as the Goth family. When I went into PleasentView, I noticed them, and their house was completely gone. I was so freaked out about this. Last night though, I saw that there was a DownTown added to PleasentView, that I did not add. I went there to see if the Goth family moved. They did. They moved into the FM, which is a community lot. It says they live there, and has their family picture too, but when I click on the lot, they are not there, and the lot becomes a normal community lot, but when I got back into the town, they are living there again. I think that I can just make them move right out, but it was so strange to see them living there. Has anyone else had this problem? And if anyone knows, what caused it? Here is a picture of it in the town, as you can see that's FM, and there is a Plumbob on top of it, saying people live there. very strange, something sort of similer happened to me, my pregnant sim went to a community lot and she give birth on the community lot and her babys were gone but it said they lived in the community lot very strange! the only thing i can think of that may fix it is, go nto another sims house enter debug mode (boolprop testingcheatsenabled true) shift + click on a sim click spawn and click tombstone of life and death, then click add to family, try to find mortimer, alexander and cassandra there, they should all be there, if their not then something really strange has happened. but if they are all there just move them to that house, then move them to their normal house xxx

Something like that happend to me too, my sim families from strange town and Pleasent View have lost their babies. It says that the bebies live there, but they aren't there, and it's still in their memory. But the baby's name had changed. But with the other family, the babies and memorie all were gone. I'm not sure what happened, but my brother says it was from me downloading stuff from this website.

Have you had any strange crashes or glitches leading up to this?

I haven't had any crashes, but I do get tons of glitches. everything, from getting stuck in the car, getting arms bendt and stuck, babies disapearing, to getting items stuck in different places, and I thought some of these things were normal, but the one with the families, I'm sure, is not normal.

Okay, do you have any hacks or custom content? Go through your downloads folder, and temporarily remove all of your hacks. Have you modded any of your game files in any way?

i dont have any hacks, but i have a lot of custom content in there, and i dont think i modded any of my game files

What I would do is: patch the game, if you haven't already.
Temporarily remove all custom content, including the lot catalog and saved Sims.
Try the game again... if it doesn't work, back up all of your Custom content and restore your neighbourhoods:

This will mean you'll lose all your saved games, and that the neighbourhood will be reset to how it was in the beginning, but it does sound like your neighbourhoods are somehow corrupted. Before you do this, make sure you backup your lot catalog and saved Sims folders too- that way you'll be able to save all of your houses and characters. Make sure you delete the old neighbourhoods before restoring them; that way the Uni and Downtown neighbourhoods will be started afresh.

Go to the community lot open the cheat window and type
changeLotZoning residential
save exit and re-enter and see if they are there.

well, i fixed it, i just uninstalled the game and all of its EPs, i wanted to get ride of all that extra stuff that had been piling up over the years. i had a bunch of downloads that i downloaded that never worked, and i couldnt find them in the folder, so i just took my most important stuff(like neighborhoods) and moved them aside while i uninstalled. i took one dress that i had made in bodyshop and im going to download everything again, but only a few things, my favorite things that i had. while installing the sims 2 again, i had a couple bumps, but nothing i couldn't fix, and now my game wroks just fine (even though it all went back to the begining again).at least it works good now. thanks for the help anyway, im going to make sure to check everything i download, and not have too much, since i think it might of been a bad download that didn't work made my game like that. im sure it happens sometimes.
