Okay, I have the orignal sims 2 cd I bought, no other ep's installed.

I do have a lot of custom content, but I checked to make sure it was Sims 2 (no ep installed) only. (I hope i wont have to reinstall the game )

What happened was, I had a family with a father and daughter. They had a small house, and I adopted a new child. When the social worker dropped her off, that's when my build/buy mode shut off. It stayed shut off for a while, I thought that was normal, because sometimes when an event happens (like a fire) they shut off...

Three days in my sims life passes... I can't access build or buy mode. No fire, or anything is going on. I need to buy a new bed, cause I forgot to buy her a bed, and I want to expand the house, but I can't. I try saving and going back to neighborhood and coming back, the problem is still there.

Okay, so I think maybe its something wrong with the house... so I said, I'll build them a new house, they have enough money, then I'll move them in. I went to go build a new house, on a empty lot, and everything was disabled. I tried moving them into a premade house, and it was still disabled. Suddenly its disabled for every lot, and I don't know why.

The only other question I can think of, is I did accidently download a house that *said* it was for sims 2 (no ep) only, but I think they messed up, I downloaded it from this site, and I think they messed up cause it messed up my game, everytime I click it, it crashes the game, so I do want to delete that house... but it's not on the neighborhood, just in the menu, and this didn't happen til after I adopted my sim (the problem with the menu disabled) so I'm not sure what's causing it...

I just want to know if theres cheat to put the menu back on, and possibly how can I remove that house, since I don't want it now, it only seems to cause problems, but that's just a side thing, I don't think it has to do with the menu disabled.

The only hacks I have, are inteenmator (teen woohoo) and lots of custom clothes and genetics from this site, and the helaene site, and the midsimmer eve set, though not the rugs cause they weren't no EP. Anyways sorry if this was really long, thank you for anyone who takes the time to help me out... if worst comes to worst I guess I'll have to reinstall Thank you - erica

Firstly, move your downloads folder to the desktop. If your game works then, you know it's something you downloaded. Then it's just a matter of finding which item is causing the problem- try using the Clean Installer to help you. This thread may help, too.
