I have and love Nightlife, and am wondering if you can install Uni after NL, or whether it needs uninstalling and reinstalling after Uni, which I guess could screw up my svaed games.

The standard rule supported by Maxis (for The Sims and I believe Sims 2 as well) has been to install all expansions in order. I tried finding something to confirm this both here and on the official site but haven't had any luck yet. My suggestion would be to back up everything (Downloads, Neighborhood, etc) and uninstall both the original game and Nightlife expansion then reinstall in the following order: Original Game, University then Nightlife. As long as you don't load the game until all the installs are complete you should be fine. Hope this helps and good luck.
