Hi. I have a problem with either the sims, or my computer. it runs to slow. i tried to remove all my downloaded files to see if they where the once causing the problem, but it didn't help at all. about the computer: i bought it new maybe 6 months ago. AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 2.01 GHz 1,00 gb of RAM NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT 280 GB SATA harddisk. So speed shouldent be a problem.. or am i wrong? Anyways, the lagging is really bad. like, if i try to get the people to look in a mirror, it takes about 20 seconds. and the movements of everything is lagging, and... yeah i think you get it. it's to slow. Soo, can anyone help me with this. or does anyone have any idea of what i should do or weither it's the computer or the game that is bad. i would really appreciate it if someone would help me with this.. ![]() the game is inplayable. :P Edit: I have all the expansion packs and both sims folders together take up about 8 gb. |

Your computer isn't top speed, but it's better than mine and I don't have this problem. So I'd guess that your computer needs some serious maintenance on it to make it run a little better. First, clean up your disc, remove malware and viruses, defragment and create a new user account for gaming. This thread will help: http://www.modthesims2.com/article.php?t=35914 Next, try upgrading your graphics drivers: http://www.modthesims2.com/article.php?t=146389 Then, find a setting in your game options that allows you to get a reasonably good appearance whilst allowing for a fast gameplay. Anti aliasing really slows down a PC; keep it low or off when playing. You can always turn it up when making movies or taking pictures. Shadows and reflections slow the game, as do bumpmapping and the high detail settings. Also, keep a watch on the items you use in the lots- items with a high poly count (this can include clothes and hairstyles) can slow the game, as can animated objects, or items with effects like the butterflies on the flowers. Use them sparingly to speed it up. You can also alter the in game neighbourhood view settings to a lower quality, too. |
