Old 30th Apr 2006, 12:32 AM DefaultFFS causing CAS to crash #1

Installed the Family Fun Stuff pack today ... and while the game plays fine, I cannot enter Create-A-Family. It loads about half-way, hangs on the loading screen, then crashes.

I am using a completely vanilla game -- no downloads, no hacks, no cheats, no nothing. Removed the custom CAS screen I had.

I added the FFS patch. I never patch! But figured it had to be the thing I needed. Nope. CAS still crashes.

Again, the neighborhoods, lots and existing families are all loading fine and gameplay is fine. I just can't enter Create-A-Family.

Any suggestions on how to fix this??

Try deleting the groups.cache file first.

I tried that. Deleting the groups.cache didn't help. I checked BodyShop -- and it's running fine, no problems there. It's just the ding-dang CAS. Any other possibilities I should check or try?? Appreciate your help!

If you're sure you removed the custom CAS and you don't have any other mods installed, I'd recommend reinstalling- try reinstalling just FFS and whichever your last EP is. backup your game files first.

2 questions: I did not patch OFB. Should I do that first? And before reinstalling, do I also need to uninstall? Will it remove all the other EPs?

Yes, you should patch OFB. But I don't believe it will cure this problem- I'd still reinstall. Yes, you need to uninstall the games first- FFS and OFB- and this will delete your downloads and save games. This is why you need to back up your game- follow my link.

Thank you for all the help! I do know how to backup (and do so regularly). I'll let you know how the reinstall goes....
