Ok I have 2 problems here...

I uninstalled all my expansion pack, but then, when I was about to uninstall the base game, I had this message " You have more expansions packs installed. You need to uninstall them before uninstalling the Sims 2"

But I DON'T...I mean, I uninstalled every pack..I guess there must have been something in the registry, but I couldn't find anything...So, stupid me, I just deleted the folders....

So, I reinstalled the game without a problem...

But now, it won't start! I have this message :

The Sims 2 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.


So I said, Ok, I'll uninstall it again! But then arrrrrrgh! I have this message again : " You have more expansions packs installed. You need to uninstall them before uninstalling the Sims 2"


I'm an IT Technician, yet, this is totally freaking me out..I don't have a clue about what's going on...

Could someone help me? Thank you so much in advance, you guys are super cool!

EDIT: Ok, I have figured out the expansion pack thing. I forgot about the holiday party pack..I found a key in the registry..But even after another re-install, I get the same "Application has to close" error....

Uninstall everything, delete all Sims2 folders (both in Program files and in your my documents folder) and check the registry keys again. Then reinstall.

Ok, I uninstalled it, but when I looked for the keys, they weren't there...and there was no EA GAMES folder...I wonder if this is a problem...

I wonder if there is a key for holiday pack?

Anyways I'll try to reinstall now...

EDIT : Still doesn't work..I even tried to install it on another drive...I'm really mad right now

No, that's okay- if there are no reg keys or folders it means that the uninstaller has removed them as is desirable. You should be okay to install now. Yes there is a key for the Family Fun Stuff pack; that should be removed by the installer, so that's why you can't see it either!

Well, I would suggest trying a registry clean up and disc clean up before reinstalling the OS, I'm a lazy technician and have a definite aversion to the Windows music you get when you install!

Hmm thanks, but it's too late, I reinstalled everything. But now, it runs SOOOO SMOOTHLY, I love it! I never had such a great performance with the game before!
