I've been having this issue for a bit. When in live mode (regardless of lot), the game will freeze and the picture will change to a blank light purple screen (this happens at random times). The hourglass cursor will be spinning while the harddrive is granding away (it's like the same thing gotten when minimizing the game via ctrl+esc, then remaximizing it; like the game is trying to "catch up" or whatever). However, the game just returns to where it left off at the freezing point and continues on like nothing happened after it's finished doing whatever it was doing. And this is regardless of whether I have the downloads folder loaded in or not. Even more so, I never had this problem prior to installing the OFB & FFS P2's.

I've looked through the FAQs on here and don't anything remotely resembling my issue. I'm just curious to know if anyone else has experienced this since installing said patches. I have all three EP's + FFS.

PC Specs: Athlon XP 2600+, 1GB RAM, GeForce 6600 (w/ 256MB), WinXP Home SP2. All OS patches installed and latest NVidia 91.31 drivers.

about the last 5-10 pages in that thread.

seems to be the only fix is to get more ram or a new video card

Thank you for the response. I did find that thread before I posted, but only read about the first three pages. The early posts were mostly from people who had "glowing objects." Since that didn't seem to be my problem, I stopped reading (but maybe I should've read further).

One other thing mentioned by several people was that problem of having the video go completely dead after awhile, requiring a reboot. I HAVE had that problem a few times, as well, but forgot to mention it. When it happens, the green & yellow lights on the monitor glow together.

I was running version 84.21 of the drivers before upgrading to 91.31, thinking that it might've been the problem. Glad to see I was on the right track, anyhow! I'm going to try some of the 70-series versions and see what happens.

The main solutions to the blue screen problem are as follows:
1) Remove old drivers as outlined here:
http://www.modthesims2.com/article.php?p=1153022
2) Install different drivers (the 84.21 work great for me)
3) Install more memory if you can.
The new drivers helped, but the more memory was needed on my PC to completely eradicate the bluescreens.

I just downloaded 78.01 & 81.98 as well as the driver cleaner mentioned in that thread. One other thing I tried, I found on the Exchange's BBS. That was to give the three-fingered salute after the game is fully loaded to get into the taskman. Then set the game executable's priority to "high." Unfortunately, that didn't make a difference. Would another 512MB be decent if the old drivers don't work?
