I have a Villager working in the J'Adore Bakery for Gilbert Jacquet and he wants to promote her to Manager someday but she only has 2 Cooking Skill points.

How can she gain more skills (because she needs them in order to make the dishes they sell in the Bakery like the Cheesecake and Baked Alaska, etc.)?

I tried having Gilbert invite her over to his place and tried giving her Cooking lessons on the Chocolate Candy Making machine but it didn't seem to work. I didn't see any Progress Bar over her and she just ended up making a big mess.

I don't think putting a bookcase on the Business lot and telling her to read would do any good cause Skills can't be gained on a Business lot and besides employees are non-playable characters.

I suppose the only resort would be to use SimPE maybe and cheat?

I'm not sure if/how get the employee sim to gain skill points in game. But yes, you could use SimPE to manually adjust her skills. Also keep in mind that she doesn't have to be the baker when she's made manager. Gilbert is going to have to visit the bakery every few days to boost sales. So you could have his inventory filled with the baked goods and then while he's at the bakery, do the restocking.

Squinge has the answer right here on MTS2. Unzip this mod in your Downloads folder.

If you get the second version (OFB_CommunitySkillingv1.3a.zip), it will allow ALL sims, playable and non-playable, to gain skill points anywhere, including community lots and shops. After you add this, you should be able to train her properly, at your house or on the Business lot.

I didn't even think about that which surprises me because that's one of my favorite mods by Squinge! With that, you can see if she'll study cooking on her own on the bakery lot and if she doesn't then you could also make her selectable using the testingCheats to direct her to study. Here's the testingCheats Guide which explains how to make an unselectable sim selectable. Just search for 'selectable' in the PDF.

You could just invite her over for a normal visit and type in the cheatbox: 'boolProp testingcheatsenabled true', then make her selectable. If you type in the cheat before you enter the lot, then you can drag up her skills to the level you want them to be at, even drag up anyone's mood, personality, et cetera.

Or you could just offer her lessons on the Chocolate machine, like you tried earlier. With Squinge's mod, she should have a progress bar and gain points normally.
