I've tried googling this to no avail. I found a brush that creates parallel stitches but not one that stitches in a line. Thanks in advance. |

what do you mean by stitching brush? Something that would make a line that looks like stitching? Sims 2 lacks detail enough even with the 1024 size that the details on top stitching would be lost. To make top stitching I'd simply use the line tool. I've sometimes used a texture on it, like canvas, to add some variation of shading, and I've also often made it slightly transparent and blending some with the clothing. If you meant something else, please let me know. But looking at topstiching on maxis garments at least on some of them, it's simply a line. |

Hey Tig, please… When you mention “canvas” texture…do you mean the Filters\texture\texturizer\canvas? I have that, but I find that even with the smaller setting the texture is too big for sims. But then again, I also read people saying you should work BIG…uhm…do you work on a larger canvas, not on 1024x1024? |

Right, I was looking for a brush to do top stitching on jeans. I'll try texturizing a line. Thanks. |

alexarosa, I often work just at 1024x1024, because I want to see the final effect. I zoom in to 200% to see if it'll still look sharp in game closeups. I was suggesting to use that to texture the 'topstitching' to give it some varied shading, just a bit. But in general any fabric 'texture' we add to the sims is by default oversized, even at 1024 it's not near close enough. Thumbnails aren't loading right now, but I did a bunch of the male outfits in the magick modders set and if I used canvas to add a bit of texture, I'd to it with a low and smallest setting and then fade it by 50%. It's always a delicate balance between keeping enough texture/detail for it to not look like mud and for it to not be so oversized it looks wrong. Considering the textures stretch when the sims animate, we already have to suspend belief |

Thumbnails are back. And both of my fav outfits that I used for the closeups in the magic modders - the adult male tunic (green) and elder male tunic (blueish) happened to use that texturing - the 'canvas' one. (I also used various textured and patterned 'fabrics' on the other tunics). http://www.modthesims2.com/showpost...768&postcount=4 The trims I used for the most part are scaled down from RL medieval style trims. So, I think it looks okay. Maybe you don't like it, but there's the example anyway. Those were some of my first sims 2 outfits, but I don't think I'd do them that much differently now. |

That is really cool. Thanks! (not sure if it will produce stitching that will show up with that level of detail on our sim-sized outfits, but a cool effect nonetheless) |
