Hi! This time I've tried to create a coffee table with a glass, obviously transparent. My problem is that the glass doesn't become transparent. I followed the steps from mike19's tutorial.

Important data:
- The base object doesn't have transparency.
- The glass is contained into the rest of the object (there's only one gmdc)
- The glass is box (placed into the hole that that a boolean made to the object)
- I export and import in .3ds filetype and I use 3D max 7 (and it's uvw mapper to apply textures)

I attach an image and the .DBPF Package into a .rar compressed.

Hi kapete,

first thing i noticed is that your texture isn't properly sized: its 257x512 instead of 256x512.

to solve the transparency prob
TXTR needs the format to be changed from Raw64Bit to DXT3. as the solid and transparent part are on the same texture you will need to add an alpha.
and TXMT needs stdMatAlphaBlendMode set to blend

More build mode, plants, lights and pet stuff by me can be found at

MMM I didn't know all that kind of things. I've done that:
- 256x512 --> 257x512
- TXTR ( Raw64Bit to DXT3 )

But I didn't found TXMT and blend on stdmatalpablendmode :s

I made the alpha and I got a transparent glass, the problem is that I only can see one of the four legs through the glass (lol)

I attach an image

Thankyou very much

TXMT is the 'Material Definition (TXMT)' . there are two of them in your package, one for the shadow and one for the table. pick the latter and amend the third property as mentioned above.

You might find it easiest to import a glass TXMT from another object - just right click extract, copy the name of the TXMT in your coffee table, right click on it, choose replace, select the glass TXMT, click yes when prompted and then rename the TXMT to the same as the old one in the Plugin View Filename field. Its a useful thing to be able to do because its a good way of getting a set of objects to match if you can create one TXMT for one item you can re-use it for all the others so the effect is identical and not full of inherited Maxian oddness.
