Hi I'm rather new at modding and i would like to know a couple things about how far one could take modding. Here are my questions:

Would it be possible to increase the largest lot size (exp. multiplying its width+hieght by 4?)

Could someone add an already existing effect to another item without them interferring with each other> (exp. making a sword that could turn someone into a vampire? would it be able to transform someone into a werewolf? right there in plain daylight?)

How indepth could someone make an item? (exp. would they be able to make an item that could transform at the owners discretion than turn back to its regular shape? would you be able to add an above effect to each one of the objects forms?)

Could you make it so when the item transformed the owners clothes would than change as well?

Could you make an item that would work like a cell phone so that to get it you had to buy it from a kiosk so that only selected sims could have it and to use it would be like clicking on the sim than see the pie menu that said "Use Item"?

From the use item menu could you continue from there to get to the items continued menu? Could you make the "cellphone" based item visible, say a sword hanging from a belt?

-small note i am making a sword - -also would you think people would rather click on the sword or the sim's "use item" pie menu?-

Would you be able to make an animation so it would look like an extrmely cool fight? not just the usual Dust cloud?

Could you make a lot such as a community lot were people could visit there than be trapped so you could play on the extrememly huge lot like it was just one town?

Is there a way to increase the max number of sims on a lot so using the boolprop funtion you could make a lot of sims *SELECTABLE?

Do you think this is to much work for 1 newb to do alone ?

well thx anyways for any information you can provide me!

I'm answering these purely from a technical standpoint, because some of these things are fairly easy and some of them are extremely complicated.

...increase the largest lot size...
Yes/ http://www.modthesims2.com/showthre...593#post1624593

...add an already existing effect to another item...
Yes/ http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=124173

How indepth could someone make an item?
Very, but only with a lot of BHAV experience/ http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=142907

...transformed the owners clothes...
Yes, there are primitive and global BHAVs to facilitate clothing changes

... had to buy it from a kiosk...
Yes, using similar code

...items continued menu...
Yes, if you have too many options in a menu the game automatically creates a "More" option.

...visible, say a sword hanging from a belt...
Technically yes, but compatibility with other hacks and game behaviour becomes a big issue. Assuming you want it for an extended period of time (not just the duration of an interaction) I'll say "no, unless you're really clever".

...i am making a sword...
I had guessed

...rather click on the sword or the sim's "use item"...
Both, either.

...make an animation...
Yes/ http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=225478

...make a lot... were people could visit there than be trapped...
Yes, but...

...so you could play on the extrememly huge lot like it was just one town...
No. Sims object to being imprisoned and will go quite mad (The "I can't get to where I want to be animations etc) if they can't leave when they want to.

...Is there a way to increase the max number of sims on a lot...
You mean increase family size? Yes/ http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=101362 or http://www.insimenator.net/showthread.php?t=15442

Do you think this is to much work for 1 newb to do alone ?
Yes. What you've listed here is an extremely large and complex project. Assuming you haven't modded much before, you should really read this document:
http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?...ding_Start_Here
As a hint, to create the stuff you've described above, you'd need to be very confident in "New (animated) object meshes", "Custom Behaviour Objects", and possibly also "New bodyshop accessory meshes" depending on how you want the thing to attach while the sim is not using it. You'd also need to learn everything on the pathway to those points, using the road map. I'd strongly suggest starting smaller and working up to a project like that.

Oh sorry i dont think i was very clear, i meant that im making multiple swords so i wasn't wondering if 1 sword couldmake someone werewolf and vamp but two seperate swords. also i meant not like lock the sims on the lot with a fence but make it so they just don't leave. I also was wondering could you make your own skill points/skill badges?

One sword or multiple won't change the above advice.

I knew what you meant about making sims not leave, and the above still holds - sims won't stay on lots, they have extensive code to make sure they don't get stuck. If you were to hack that code, it would end up applying everywhere and you'd never be able to get rid of visiting sims, NPCs etc. Your home lots would get very crowded very fast.

You can make your own skills, but it's very hard and not exactly documented. You'd want to be pretty advanced at modding before you try that.
