I just installed University. When I go to play the game, the game freezes on the first screen - the 'SIMS 2' *insert expansion pack here* one. I have tried restarting the computer and there weren't any problems while installing, so I'm at a bit of a loss. Also, the computer makes a noise as though it's going to work, but then just stops. :/

Thanks

If this is not an absolute fresh install - if you've been playing and you have sims and neighborhoods and houses going, and/or if you have installed any custom content, please try this: http://www.modthesims2.com/article.php?t=139718

If it is an absolute fresh install with no user files or custom content whatsoever, you should try patching your game: http://www.modthesims2.com/article.php?t=188931

I downloaded the patch, it still didn't work. I'm slightly confused as to what could be wrong :/

I think the latest patches (the new pets patch and the seasons patch) are not okay. I have all EPs installed and everything went relatively fine until I installed the patches two days ago. When I tried to enter the university neighbourhood the game got stuck showing a flashing "loading screen". All the other neighbourhoods work normally (as far as I could test it) but my students are "on vacation" until the next patch will come out (in the not too distant future...)

...and so to bed.
