I saw a post, that now I can not find, where someone had an odd shadow or darkening on edges of their textured object (shows up in game). I have the same problem and someone said something about reimporting, but I can not remember the solution. BTW, I use MilkShape, UVMapper Classic and Paint and I use the DDS utilities function with "None" set for image rendering.

May I impose on someone to please suggest/repeat how I may fix this unsightly problem?

Thank you so very much,

Debra

Well, an odd shadowing or darkening of edges would probably be due to weird normals - which is often a problem with Milkshape if you're just using the default normals given to you by smooth all/autosmooth. I personally MUCH prefer using the Align Normals plugin, which you can get here: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=139859

It was made to be used by body meshers, as we -have- to use it or we break our meshes, but it gives much gentler, nicer, smoother normals in many cases, not just for body meshes. Just make sure to uncheck Autosmooth in Milkshape.

Thank you for responding. I figured out that I needed to use the "clean model" feature in MilkShape to get rid of the shadow. I hate to use that feature because sometimes it produces odd or unfavorable results. Anyhow, it is fixed now. I do thank you so very much for the help and I will remember the tip on the autosmooth feature.

Sometimes the clean tool can actually cause this problem but the align normals does work quite well usually to fix it.

Thank you so very much for the response. I will try that instead, because as you say, I have seen it cause more problems.
