 Wall Shadows

I was wondering if anyone out there knows what causes the wall shadow let's say of a painting, to hide when the wall is dropped down. And also how to prevent this hiding? |

The wall shadow will "hide" when the wall goes down because there isn't a wall to show the shadow on. I don't know of any way to make it show when the wall is not there. |
