Although I found things here that were kind of on the right track, I couldn't find anything that addressed my problem. I downloaded some gorgeous homes from Christine at MTS. As I only have TS2, Uni, Pets and OFB, I only downloaded things that I could use; the homes I downloaded were listed as requiring either the base game only, Uni only, or both. No problem, right? Some of the homes installed fine when I clicked on them. Others gave me the "This lot requires Expansion Pack data that is not installed" message. It didn't seem to matter what the individual lots required; one that needed the base and Uni would install, but another one needing the base and Uni wouldn't. When I looked at them in the S2PCI, the custom content shown was nothing other than walls, floors and terrain, which shouldn't be expansion-pack-specific, right? Anyone familiar with Christine's homes (castles and mansions, actually) knows how magnificent they are, and I would very much like to use them in my game. Please forgive my ignorance; I haven't had much experience with S2PCI (I did read all the information I could find, both here and at the S2PCI website) and I don't know how safe it is to just install the problem lots via the S2PCI and bypass the refusal. If anyone can clue me in I would be very grateful. I apologize if this duplicates someone else's question; I followed all of the forum's guidelines for finding answers here and came up empty. Thank you very much, Pennie (aka centime) |

I'm gonna edit that title so it doesn't knock the forums out of whack. Sometimes the Maxis installer well... lies. It does it all the time with sims - which don't require any expansion - and it does it sometimes with lots that might have been made with an irrelevant stuff pack or two. If you trust the uploader to have properly marked the actual EPs required, and you have all those EPs, it's safe to use Clean Installer to bypass that error message. If the uploader marked wrong or you don't have the right EPs, doing that will give you a house that will cause your game to crash when you click on it in the lot bin. If you run into this situation you can use Clean Installer to scan your LotCatalog folder to find the problem house(s) and delete them. ![]() Hope that clarifies. |

(It was a ludicrously long title - I was trying to be thorough Thank you so much, HystericalParoxysm. You answered my question perfectly. I am relieved to know that I can most likely use those gorgeous lots in my game. You "guys" have a wonderful website; all the downloads are great, your help files are extremely helpful, and so are all of you. With much gratitude, centime |
