When trying to enter one of the Lots (I'll describe it later) this shows up right in the middle of the Loading:

Quote:
The application has crashed. The application will now terminate.

I know, there are other people with the same problem, but I think they didn't get the same Log, so I thought the cause wasn't the same.

Sorry, if this problem has been solved, I admit that I didn't try a few things, like Uninstalling and also I didn't move or change my Downloads folder (because the problem came weeks after any modifications were made to that folder.)

I attached the log that is shown everytime I tried to enter the lot.

How is this Lot Like:
Is a 2 floor house, plenty of items, decorations and awards, etc. It isn't the largest lot size.
There are seven sims in the family, and four gravestones with their ghost. That must be a lot of memories and high-size files.

I tried leaving just one member in the family (moving everybody else with another sim outside the lot that happens to knows them), and loading, but nothing change.

I tried the same, but adding one more member (a dog) so the Family Load Screen would refresh and wouldn't show the seven Family Members (I thought that could change something), it didn't, just the same error at the same exact moment.

My Computer:

* AMD Sempron 2500
* 512mb ram
* GeForce FX 5500 256mb
* 40 Gb in the main Hard Drive, 10gb free space.

And I have every expansion till Bon Voyage.

My questions are:

* Can this be solved without losing everything? And continue with my sims lives like nothing happen?

or

* Can I save every item in the house? (including Gravestones) And Sims? I don't care about the shape of the house, I was going to move them anyway (to two different smaller lots), and destroy it. But I don't want to lose everything.

I'm really sorry if this was answeard. I didn't find a real solution, except for: re-install or move the family and start again.

EDIT: I back up the Neighborhood and move the family away, and try to enter the empty house, and at the same exact moment the game crash with the same error. I attached that Log also, because its different.
Download - please read all instructions before downloading any files!

First, please edit your post and use the attach option to attach your error log.

What happened when you did the first part of the gamehelp FAQ ? What about removing all user files? What happened with a clean sims2 folder?

How does the lot load when you debug mode turned off?

Honestly, without knowing more about your system and everything that is running on it when you try to load the Sims, it is very hard to diagnose. But just looking at the log, my best guess would be that you do not have enough physical RAM. I am just guessing here, but I will assume that you have just about all the expansions as well as the Stuff Packs. That is quite a bit of data for your PC to load into memory. Generally the Windows Swap file handles any excessive memeory demands, but under heavy loads, applications may require data faster then the swap file can handle. Now, it may have been on the edge of working OK, but any additional strain you put on your game (i.e., more sims on a lot, more items on a lot like mirrors, lights, etc) could push your game over that edge. Your error log shows the memory usage at 439656k. That is 439MB of memory you are using just to load the game. Since your system only has 512mb, that leaves roughly, 73 MB of RAM for everything else to run in. Not very much by modern day standards.

As cheap as memory is now, I would recommend upgrading to 1GB of memory.

First, thanks for the quick reply.

I just edit my first post and attached two different logs:
* The old one: game crash when I tried to load the Lot with the Family as normal.
* New one: I disconnect my self from the net, turn everything I could off, remove everyone from the Lot, and try to enter in Building Mode. Same crash, but different log.

I didn't try with a clean Sims 2 folder, because I'm not having the problem entering the game or any other lots, just this one.
Right now, I'll try removing the Download folder, but I don't see the point, because the Lot should be empty of all items. EDIT: Same crash.

Maybe if my brother is in good mood I'll try using one 512ram from his computer, to test if the problem is coming from there.

I'll edit after I test without Downloads folder.

Thanks!

Sorry, I miss this. How do I know if it's turned on or off?

You will not get error messages. Control+shift+C
boolprop testingcheatsenabled false

Yes, try the game without the downloads folder. It's a quick easy way to tell if some piece of custom content is wreaking havok with that lot. Might work. If it does work, go on with the rest of the game help tutorial.

It hardly sounds like a hardware problem, as it is happening on only one lot. I assume that other lots load and run fine? Hardware problems are difficult, at best, to diagnose. I've have a few, but the problems presented themselves consistantly whenever I loaded the game.

Mmmm, maybe I'm doing something wrong or I misunderstood something, but I always have "boolp testing..." false it's set in the userStartup.cheat file.
I tried putting it on, but the "Terminate" error keeps showing.

I tried but nothing change.

I'm trying to think what changes I made to the house the last time I play. If the error persists when I try moving the family, that means the lot error should concern something I made in the Build Mode?
Because the only changes I made where makeing a couple of walls for a new room, nothing strange.
Or maybe the save didn't went right, last night when I save the Game the computer was extremely sloppy, the game was running pretty slow.

I can live with the relations lost. Should I tried packaging the Lot, Bulldozing it, and unpackaging to check if its a save problem?

I would remove the sims first. Use Inge's teleport shrub/cat to summon them to another lot, then bulldoze and/or package the lot. You don't want to package a lot with sims in it. http://www.simlogical.com/sl/Sims2P...Teleporters.htm

There's obviously something borked with that lot. You didn't say if this happened on any other lots, or just this one. If it is just the one lot, it might have gotten corrupted somehow. It happens, especially on older well-played lots.

It happens just in this lot, I played in a bigger one for quite a long time, then when I realized the performance could really improve in a smaller lot, I move the family with takeing everything in their inventories.

This one is almost new, I played it for two weeks (not straight :P)

I just play two lots for long time: this one with the problem and the old one. I had other but didn't play them for such a long time, just use them to build some relations.

What does the Teleported do? Is like a "Propose -> Move In" action? What's the difference with the Move Family option from the Neightborhood view?

Well, thanks again, I'll try this tomorrow.

You can use the movefamily option also. Either one works.

Didn't work either.
It crash when I the packaging begun.

Mmmm... let's see, if there's a way around.

Can I use some program (like SimPE ) to look trough the items that are in the lot? I want to save the ghosts, and some photos and paints.
Just that, the rest of the stuff doesn't care.

So...
I use Sims2Pack Clean Installer to go trough the lots packages, obviously mine was the biggest.
Now that I know wich Lot has the problem, is anyway, any program to find any problem in that specific lot file?

If there isn't any, is there any program in which I can select some sims (the family I used, and some of the neightboors I created) and somehow to import them into the game, I don't care if my dead sims became alive, I prefered that than rather having the family lost.
I also now the package files that correspond to my sims.
