Hello, Every time one of my sims gives birth to a new baby, and it grows up, they always have the same short hair, the same shirt and pants and the darkest hair colour of the parents. That last thing may be normal, I don't know (but I haven't had it different a single time, and I have had quite a few children.) But those first things are bugging me... I know you can change the hair in the mirror, but it isn't as much fun as having a natural random hairstyle, instead of having to pick one yourself every time. You can buy your own clothes too, but again, random is more fun. My computer isn't very great, actually, it's very bad. Just enough to run The Sims 2. It probably has to do something with that. Here it is: Windows 2000 256 MB RAM 900 mHz EDIT: Graphics card is: Hercules 3D Prophet 9200/9200SE Series (Total Memory: 128MB) So is there a way to change this? Like changing something in some document like the one where you can change the max amount of people you can invite on a party and stuff like that? I hope somebody has a solution for this, thanks. |

What have you done so far to resolve this? It's helpful for us (and anyone else who sees your thread) if we know what has been done. Less annoying for you by avoiding making suggestions you've already tried too. It's been awhile since I played an infant to toddler, but I don't remember them always having the same hair and clothes. Which leads me to think (as many things are) that it may be related to custom content. Did you do any of the Game Problems FAQ? Have you tested without your downloads folder? |

JLonier, up to (i think Pets) all toddlers will have the same hair. But not the same clothes. |

There's some genetic dominance stuff that happens with hair colours, as well as recessive genes in sims that aren't straight out of CAS, so babies getting the same hair colour when you pair, say, a black haired and blonde haired sim together is normal. And getting the same hairstyle is -very- normal... my sim babies always end up with the same hair and I take 'em to the mirror as soon as they age to fix it. Clothes... I haven't noticed as much like that... but again, as soon as they age I usually put them in something else -anyway-. The hair colour thing -can- be linked to Firstborn Syndrome though: http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?...stborn_Syndrome |

I haven't seen this issue since I had only the base game, but when I first began playing the Sims, every one of my toddlers would have the same hairstyle, and the same outfit. The same thing happened when they grew into kids. I don't think you can change your toddler's appearance with only the base game, so you're stuck with it til they're kids. The low specs of your PC don't have anything to do with your problem - but if you ever want to get new EPs you'll definitely need to upgrade!

the... problem is the way maxis set up the genetics for the hair. With each age they add more hairstyles, which then have a hairstyle linked to it for growing _older_. Problem with game born babies (until maybe if they fixed it with a later ep - that I'm not aware of) is that all infants have the *same* bald scalp. Maxis did not do a 'randomization' after that, it just by default went to toddler hair0... so all toddlers looked the same if born in game. There is a toddler mirror on site, if you only have the base game or early eps - that will let you change the toddler's hair by hand. I have _not_ heard of any hack available to do it for you. |

Thanks everyone! I didn't know it was normal as I heard from some people it was different on their game, but they'll probably have the right expansion packs. I'll just use that toddler mirror, thanks! ![]() That Firstborn Syndrome Link helped a lot too! :D |
