My game freezes up on the second family you move into a house, or sometimes on the first family in custom neighborhoods. After that, it doesn't play properly. I have it set to in a window. And after it crashes, it's fullscreen, even though it says "in a window". My settings also go all weird... after it crashes texture detail is set on low. I've got the shadows and reflections turned off too. They are always back on after it crashes.

And I've gone through all the steps with it. It worked for a while (2 hours) then started crashing again.

So I removed everything except for the maxis content. It worked for a while, but when I put the content back in, it crashed again.

I've installed the patch, re-installed the game, re-installed it again, read the faq again, went through those steps. I've even wiped my computer. It worked for a day, but last night it started crashing again. I have no idea what to do anymore.

I'm sorry to be impatient, but if someone could help me with this, that would be great. I have a couple of bodyshop projects going that I need to test.

When it crashes its going back to default settings. If it crashes when you put the cc in then you have an issue with something and you need to go through the faq and do the 50/50 method to find it.

You could have a corrupt file. First try removing any hacks/mods. Then, remove everything that shows up in the CC dialogue when you first open the game (objects). That fixed my game when it happened to me.
