Hello,

the problem that I have is the following:

Whenever I go to into build mode and want to select the doors/windows category or the stairs one (haven't tried the other yet, but i would guess it happens there as well), the game crashes. So I of course tried without any custom downloads and it worked. I tested then to just put my objects folder in and it worked, then just put the build folder in and it worked, then i just tried the other folders and it worked. When I have all downloads in the game, the crash occurs though. But now to the harder part: It happens in my newest neighborhood, but not in a neighborhood I just made a long time ago to test things.

What could be the problem?

Thanks in advance,
cleaner

Dear cleaner,

Thank you for posting in the MTS2 Help section. In order to better solve your problem, please go through the following steps as listed below:

This is NOT multiple choice! You must read and go through ALL the FAQs!
  • General - Do the Game Problem FAQ
You appear to have not gone through our main Game Help:Game Problemwiki FAQ. Please go through and do the steps on this FAQ, including any others that it links to (for example the Game Help:Game Problem-Problem Custom Contentwiki FAQ).

Usually, in the vast majority of cases, actually going through and doing the steps (doing, not just reading) fixes issues - sometimes you may be asked to remove custom content, or to patch - please rest assured that all of our FAQs have been tested by our staff and volunteers and we wouldn't suggest you do something unless it's been known to fix particular issues.

  • General - Post System Specs
We need more information before we can help with your issue. Please post your system specs - instructions on finding them are here: Game Help:System Specswiki

  • General - Problem Custom Content
Your issue is related to conflicting, outdated, or badly made custom content. Please follow the Finding Problem Custom Content FAQ.

Please read through all of the FAQs above! Doing only one or two of them (when more exist) will usually result in delays not fixing your particular problem.

On occasion you might be asked to do a long FAQ - please make sure you do all the steps and don't just skip over them. You'll often find that these long FAQs have all the details you need. If nothing in the above FAQs fixes your problem you may post again detail exactly which you have done and which steps failed.

Regards,
MTS2 Staff

Apologies for not linking my system specs before, but I fixed it now it seems like by packaging all lots and putting them into a new neighborhood.

I'm not quite sure what happened there - I meant to post only the last of those three FAQs, the server gremlins strike again. Anyway, glad you got it fixed nonetheless.

I do hope those were uninhabited lots... not ones with sims living on them. Moving sims to a new neighborhood without removing their memories of knowing sims outside the family is Very Bad for your game.

Hey again, I'm back with the same problem.

Unfortunately the lots were inhabited...don't know if that's what screwed up that new neighborhood now again...but in the end it's the same problem so I don't think it is...but what can break in the game when you package inhabited lots and then install them to the game via Clean Installer and put them in a new neighborhood?

And could anything break at a neighborhood when the game crashes somewhere? I seem to be getting closer with finding out which files exactly cause the problem (it's not just one, but rather some files in combination it feels like) but it strikes me as odd that it all of a sudden happened again when it was fine before.

Do you also have it since you installed Freetime?

And how much custom content do you have? Maybe it's a bug or limitation that came with Freetime that causes those crashes when you have too much custom content?

Well, I have a lot, but it sounds silly to keep people from having to much. it should be up to the one who's playing the game...

Reinstalling inhabited lots using Clean Installer without correctly removing memories and other junk files will result in the same problem if you were to put the inhabited lot into the Lots bin to transfer them to a new neighborhood. If that's what you did, then there is no know fix for the neighborhood except to delete it and start fresh. Also, you still need to do all the steps in the Game Problem faq, not just sorting through your Downloads folder.

Please do not PM me with Game or Site Help questions. Post them in the appropriate section after going through the FAQs.

How much do you have? Like how much GB and how many files?

And what problems will there be exactly? Right now I'm trying to fix it with my previous neighborhood again, before I packaged and moved them.

It worked fine for me as well up to Freetime, although I just came back to the sims with Teen Style Stuff and BV and didn't play that so much yet before I got Freetime. Are you ashamed of saying how much content you have? I have around 12.2 GB with a bit less than 39000 files.

Just a little update before I go to bed. I added the download subfolders one by one now and i have all but one back in the game and for now it's working. I hope it will stay that way and will not put that one folder back for now. It doesn't have so important things in it anyways...if it crashes again I guess I'll have to see what I do then. Hope it won't crash again though...playing the sims is a lot more fun than only loading it over and over again. But I still would like to know what problems occur when you reinstall the lots and so on.

I have done that. But the game still keeps crashing at random times.. the problem seems to be in alot more than just one folder. :/

I think you should start the game without downloads and then add one folder and see if it crashes. If it doesn't, then you add another folder and try with those two and you do that until it crashes. At that point you check what files are in the folder you added last and how those conflict with the other files you had in the game up to that point.
