Hey guys: i was wondering if someone could help me with a lil tidbit.

I had a habit in the old days to take screenshot captures with "C button" and then going to story mode (F4) and adding screenshots to make a little 'story' of my sim's life. The thing is, I've never tried it with a sim growing up from teen years.

so I started that recently, but it's been a HUGE ENIGMA. I have no idea what's going on. So I take teen year pictures and store it into the story mode. It DISAPPEARS when I enter college. I take pictures in college during my graduation, and then THOSE DISPPEAR when i move back to my original home (actually the weird thing is, like TWO RANDOM pictures were kept in the screenshots area). Then i move into a new home and it happens again; I retain a PORTION of my original pictures.

I go to the screenshots folder in my EA folder, and I can see ALL of my screenshots there. Does anyone know if there's a way I can import it into the story mode (F4) section, so that I can finally create my complete storyline for my character? Or should I start doing it another way b/c it's too buggy? Since Bon Voyage, you've been able to select 'take a picture for me' or something, but it looks meddlesome, and from my experience, it basically does the same thing as screenshot capture with C.

thanks

I think you should be able to do this by renaming the images taken at Uni so that they appear in the regular hood album options. If you look at the difference in the names of the Uni images to the main hood images you'll perhaps be able to figure out how to do this (can anyone give more specific instructions? I'm not near my gaming PC to check myself!). Other than that, perhaps this app could help you:
http://transamerican.net/s2album/
You should be able to use this to edit the actual xml files that store the story information; so enabling you to add text an images outside of the game.

hey thx very much for the advice; it sounded like a pretty solid idea.

The problem is i tried it and its SOOO hard to understand the code for the screenshots in the folder; and i'm talking even with study! the patterns keep changing up, so in other words, even with me personally knowing which screenshots belong to which household/area, etc., I STILL can't figure out how to do it.

Also thx very much for the application offer, but something about it doesn't click with me. I think i'd very much prefer to keep the f4 function; I'm not sure if i'd ever want to see my story OUTSIDE of the program

now if only we could figure out that dam code =P

Well, you can use that program to edit the .xml files that make the stories in game- in other words, that program will let you add your Uni pictures to the family album, and then you can go into the game and see the results. It allows you to view the albums out of the game, but you can still leave them in game too.

no way? That's awesome, sweet I'll take a look at that, and report the results

First of all thank you very much; your storymode editor prog. has already helped me make a quantum leap in terms of completing my story (f4)

With your program I have done two things: 1) figured out why it wasn't working before and 2) forced my 'broken' pictures into my story book.

So here's the problem : for some reason, my pictures retain their original snapshot, but HAVE LOST ALL THUMBNAILS. So this is a pain in the arse for a couple of reasons. First of all, I wasn't able to locate them in-game b/c their thumbnail equivalents are all for some reason vanished. I can only think of some sort of 'in-game glitch' where this occurs (the game thinks you've 'deleted' this snapshots, when in reality you haven't, and it occurs whenever you move to another lot or so forth). Because in these 'ghost snapshots', I also found a lot that I HAD deleted.

Because of this thumbnail error, however, I wasn't able to use the 'truck' function, because it would cause the program to crash. So unfortunately, I cannot move the pictures around, and I still have to fear that the program may delete pictures without my consent. However, I can easily solve this problem by never moving again (which is fine, because I'm currently living in a custom house my bro built for me =D )

But thanks again. The problem is apparently the thumbnails; despite all the problems I still semi-have, you solved the biggest one, which was to help me FORCE those pictures in. It's just that now, I have it leave it in the order it is, and I cannot ever move out of my house (or they'll be lost again)

on another random note (btw, thanks, i've officially put ALL My pictures in now, despite the lack of ability to move them around):
there were some screenshots that have the letter "n" before them. I found it suspicious that all the one's with 'n' before them were the ones I couldn't access with your program. So I deleted the 'n's and, like magic, I could put them in by hacking it with your prog

Glad it was of use- just to correct you though, it's not my program or created by MTS2- it's actually created by this MTS2 member. Perhaps any issues you have with it could be directed to that thread.
FYI, the 'n' prefix is used for images created by using the in-game camera- by clicking on a sim and choosing 'take picture'. I believe (but haven't checked) that this is likely used by the Uni reward camera too. Other prefixes are for images created by the in-game camera on vacation lots (a different prefix for each vacation type).

you've made me 'eureka' about one last thing; it actually does make sense that the n-prefixes are for the ingame camera. It just never occured to me b/c ever since the screenshots started to 'disappear', it of course also made me lose interest in the camera fx, since i knew the c capture button would work, at least conditionally.

but yea thx; screw the in game camera. it's been giving me more problems than the alternative, and now with this program, I can guarantee that screenshots can be imported no matter what

ty again
