Did anyone buy a faulty AL disc?
My disc doesn't work, and I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem?

Specifically in the North East Louisiana area? (I'd hate to return my game and get another faulty copy )

Or if it's the game itself or something?
Other discs work on my computer, just not AL.

Do you actually have a DVD-ROM drive, not just a CD-ROM? Apparently AL comes on DVD-only, and if you don't have a DVD drive, it ain't gonna read.

I'm having the same problem and I have a DVD W drive (the drive would not read the dvd to even install AL) Then, it stopped reading the Freetime cd....I'm practically bald from pulling my hair! I finally decided late this afternoon to uninstall everything and I'm in the process of re-installing. So far I have Double Deluxe and Seasons installed and working without CC....I'll let you know if this works. If not, I'm going to try the reporting to SecurRom that was posted on the Sims2 BBS. Keeping my fingers crossed...winter is coming and I need my hair! Oh...I live in Canada.

EDIT: I successfully reinstalled Freetime and also installed Apartment Life and it is working without CC. Yippee! Hope this works for you as well. :D

Thanks HP,

I found that out about 15 mins after I posted this.

Any idea why they are only selling DVDs?

I would say, it's because all new computers have DVD ROM s which can read CD s, in fact, most new computers now have the all singing, all dancing DVD ROM W/RW doing away with the need for the old technology that is/was the CD ROM!
That's progress for you

DVDs store more information. Therefore they would need to create less disks by using DVDs. It would stand to reason that it may be cheaper for them to produce. Anyway, DVDrom/rw drives are very cheap anymore. You can pick up one for under $30 if you want to play. Locking since this has been answered.
