not sure if this is the right place, but i had sims installed, everything worked fine and showed up normally. laptop crashed so i had to have everything reinstalled, this time the shorelines look like this on both the neighborhood view and from a lot.. ![]() even if i put down a beach lot, from the neighborhood its the green jagged edge. ive updated my graphics card so i dont think thats the problem. im not sure if i need to download a patch for this or what. my only other thought is maybe it was because i switched from windows xp media addition to windows xp office. im not sure. any help would be appreciated |

In order to better solve your problem, please go through the following as listed below:
If you can post the Everest log in the second option it will be the easiest way to get some more detailed information that I'm after. Btw, 'XP Office' is not an operating system, but that log will tell me what you really have. |

Honestly, I'm surprised they ever looked any different because your laptop does not meet minimum requirements to run even the base game, none the less these later expansion. Are you sure things showed up differently before? The reason your computer does not meet minimum requirements is that your computer does not have a proper graphics card. It just has a chip on the motherboard that takes care of all the video processing. However, even the strongest IGP cannot compare to even the weakest card, and actually your IGP is not one of the weaker ones available today as well. A 2.0ghz cpu is required for the base game through Uni and a 2.4ghz cpu is required for later expansions. If you try to play the game with an underpowered computer it will grey out advanced rendering options and water is one thing that loses detail. Since your laptop has already crashed, this is especially important for you to take note. Continuing to play those games on that laptop will shorten its life. It’s not designed to do what you’re asking of it and you are overstressing it. Please have a read through these: http://modthesims2.com/wiki.php?tit...nboard_Graphics http://modthesims2.com/wiki.php?tit...Recommendations You can also try installing all these drivers and directx: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/con...lName=&lang=eng http://downloadcenter.intel.com/con...lName=&lang=eng http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...&DisplayLang=en ftp://61.56.86.122/pc/audio/WDM_R210.exe However, again, I highly recommend not trying to play TS2 on that laptop as you will or, as your crash may indicate, already have wrecked it. Also I'm wondering about the virtual drive you have running.. are you running TS2 off a disc or a cracked version on your computer? |

ever since i got the laptop ive been playing sims and havent had any problems. i also play other cdrom games without any problems. like i said the shoreline use to show up, then this last time i installed it, its been jagged. i just found other threads about this but again, mine use to work then stopped. reason my laptop crashed was the little pins inside the laptop for the dc adapter are bent, so the power pack gets hot and shuts the laptop down. and one day it shut itself off while loading windows. so somehow it corrupted a file of some sort. |

Try some different graphics drivers then- follow the links in Callistra's post. If the hardware of your machine has not changed, and your Sims 2 game has not changed, that means that the drivers must be different. Also check your in game graphics settings. Watch your temperatures when you play- with an underpowered laptop you are stressing the components a fair bit, and you could drastically shorten the life of the laptop by overheating it. |

It's a Sony.. Sony laptops are really pricey. Plus it's a 13.3". Your laptop had a different intention. It's meant to be ultra portable and ultra portables are expensive, especially Sony ultra portables. They're great little computers for what they're designed to do. They're just not designed to game and do intense video functions. People who go for ultra portables are people who want a lightweight laptop with lower power consumption, not a gaming computer. |
