Hi all

I have spent the last 2 days on this and now I give up. I am attempting to link a straight and diagonal window. My base window was the wellwishers window. I removed the window panes in the GMDC, GMND and SHPE. I then meshed window etc. The window is half repository, half included textures - the window glass is in the package, the wood surround and decorative glass are repository.

When I attempt to place the window I get the message "cannot be placed on a diagonal wall". It places fine on a straight wall.

I have checked everything and I just cannot see it anymore - please help. The files are a bit rough, but I was afraid to clean much more in case I broke it even more. I have followed the diagonal windows tutorial by Numenor (this is the first time I have not been successful....)
Download - please read all instructions before downloading any files!

I'll take a peek at it too. Been a long time since I linked diaganals, but it might just be you overlooked an obvious, like I did with my shelf.

Hi Reyn Thanks for offering to take a look - pretty sure I missed something really obvious, but you know how it is sometimes - you just can't see it anymore....Though I do think that maybe removing half the GMDC might be connected in someway? I even added some stuff in the BHAVs - no luck.

I have taken a look on your package and I think that the problem is due to a bad relation between the GMDC and the MMAT.
In the straight package, the two parts called 'windowquaint_heart' and 'Wood' in GMDC have to be in relation with the Material Override files. In MMAT the two files are 'windowquaint_heart' (okay!) and 'frame' (?). Try to fix this and test in game.

Sorry I can't take requests anymore!
And I will probably never convert my creations for TS2 to TS3.

Hi Maylin
are you saying that the diagonal link is not working because of the MMAT in the straight? I will continue to clean package (MMAT "frame" not used as is repository object) and will report back.

I am not sure leesester but the diagonal window is directly linked to the straight one, so I think that if errors appear in this package they automatically affect the diagonal part...

hi Maylin, well I tried that but no luck (except for squeaky clean window) - I cannot work out what the problem is - maybe as the first window (the straight) is a repository of a door, then the second (the diagonal) should be a repository of the straight window, rather than the original door textures? (Scratch that, makes no sense)
Odd thing is that when placing a diagonal window on a working window then you get a change from two tiles to a 1 tile object, my window does not do that at all but the bhavs look fine. I did add a MMAT to the diagonal window for the glass, but even when I left that out, same problem. Maybe the original window is borked?

Have you cloned the same window for the straight and the diagonal parts?
In Object Data, I read 'Window - Quaint' for the straight window and 'Window - Mauritania - Diagonal' for the diagonal window.

Yes, both are from the same set - I will try a different window as original to clone and report back. All the hard work (mesh etc) is done, so no big deal to do that.

odd.

Hi Maylin - it looks like the wellwishers window is not a good window to clone; I repeated the whole process using the breezeeasy and SUCCESS!!! So, case closed, and I will never clone that window again.....

Hi Maylin, yes finally snailed to the end - but a question: what do you think of the posibility of a window with different colours inside and out? So on the inside you can have plain white windows and the outside different colours? basically 2 recolourable subsets for the frame in one window? A bit more true to life I thought
