So, I'm running into this problem where whenever I click on an object (couch, TV, other Sim, etc etc), the command bubble pops up for maybe a second and then goes away. I've removed any new mods I've downloaded since this started happening, and it's still there.

Oh, by command bubble I mean the circle with your Sim's face in the middle, with the command options around the edges. It's beginning to irritate me, I tried all last night to fix it by changing settings and removing mods one by one, but I can't seem to get it fixed by myself this time :/.

Can anyone shed some light on what's going on here?

BTW, specs are as follows:

Vista
AMD Turion x64 (2x1.9GHz)
2GB RAM
ATI Radeon Xpress 1150 (1GB) GFX Card

I really appreciate any help, I tried to find an answer in the FAQs but came up short. Thanks for looking!

Usually, this is caused by excessive CPU load. Try terminating any processes which may be chewing up CPU in the background. Playing music, viewing websites with annoying animations, calculating too many digits of pi, or opening SimPE can all be the cause of excessive load.

Everything? Most people don't have the spares to try everything - and are you on the laptop model mentioned?

What did you leave running when you tried Pescado's suggestion?

You should reformat the computer. Never run a brand-name computer using the factory installed crap, there's all manner of dodgy drivers and spyware embedded in those.

That is almost certainly not necessary.
That article was written quite a while ago now, so I suggest that, if the drivers linked there didn't work, you check to see if Dell has more up-to-date touchpad drivers.

Actually, it is, although for reasons unrelated to getting the game running: Factory-installed computers are infested with all manner of proprietary crapware and spyware which will foul the workings of a standard computer. And produce those weird proprietary bugs like this one. This is why you should always clean the computer out completely: Then at least you'll only have to deal with Microsoft's bugs!
