My sims 2 works perfectly fine on my laptop and I have all the expansion packs and the Family Fun Stuff extra pack.

Maybe it depends what laptop you have and how much RAM and memory you have etc.

I have only ever run Sims2 on my laptop. Like stylequeen suggested, performance is going to be contingent on your notebook's system specs. I only have 512 MB RAM and a 1.6 GHz processor with a mediocre video card, and the game (TS2, Uni, NL) runs OK.

This article on Sims2Wiki lists some specifics.
